Jaylen Waddle signs with Dolphins

Ever since they went to a rookie pay scale, very few of these contracts prove problematic... Once in awhile, so guy with a really aggressive agent will try to put some extra language into his contract, but it's a mostly pointless exercise as the money they receive is dictated by their draft slot... by rule.

Agree. It’s so much nicer these days than, back in the day, where you didn’t know if your draft pick would sign. We lost Joe Theismann to Canada. David Overstreet didn’t sign initially. Others through the years held out which stunted their growth. It was an asinine system.

When Dawn Aponte was writing up the contracts that's when the draft signings were getting drawn out (Tannehill for example) over the offset language.

Not saying it was good or bad. It was designed for the team benefit hence why some players hesitated signing and it got them into camp later.

I’m not overly familiar with the workings of a rookie contract. Can anyone explain why a rookie deal, being that it’s on a fixed scale now, would have any issues?

<sarcasm> Miami FO messing up again. Imagine signing a slot receiver this early into the off season. this time space is reserved for franchise QB's and OL's and Florida-based TE's. SMH. The FO keeps losing the "value" league. </sarcasm>

Best change made by the NFL. So many franchises were destroyed by having to sign unproven players to massive contracts.

The Players Association was wise to agree to this language. The rookies were actually out-earning the vets.

THE NFL economy is unlike anything else on the planet, with a revenue sharing agreement, it is to the players advantage to work with management on most things; they are, in a very real way, partial owners of the league.
