Here is my Dolphins Mock Draft (I made revisions based on suggestions from others):

1) Glenn Dorsey (DT-LSU)
2a) Tracy Porter (CB-KAN)
2b) Jerod Mayo (ILB-TEN)
3) Carl Nicks (OT-Nebraska)
4) Jacob Tamme (TE-Kentucky as H-Back) or Brad Cottam (TE-TEN) or Jermichael Finley (TE-Texas)
6) Matt Flynn (QB-LSU)
7a) Cameron Colvin (WR-Oregon)
7b) (comp pick) Andrew Crummey (OG-Maryland)

If they want an H-Back and are not happy with Justin Peele I like Tamme. If they like Peele as the H-Back then it will probably be Cottam or Finley.

We have a good chance to get a compensatory pick as the team with the #1 pick...

Like everyone else, I expect that, if no other trades happen to get us more picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, that we may try to trade down #32 for more 2nd and 3rd round picks. Then we maybe grab a WR earlier. There is so much talent in these 2 rounds...

Otah won't be there. Talib is IMO a cover-2 guy, no long range speed. Tamme we might not be interested in, as he is not a real good blocker.
 
Thanks for the feedback and great SIG! Otah's location will depend on the combine. Right now the board I looked at had him late first / early second.

As for Talib, I would be fine with Porter as well.

Tamme looks like an H-Back type, which based on other threads would be the direction we would end up going with Henning at OC. He is smart has the best 40 time of the TEs in the draft...

okay i highly doubt that otah, talib, mayo, arrington will fall that far.
 
1)No brainer between him or C Long
2a)No way unless he has huge character concerns or an injury
2b)Won't be there and is not a good fit for our D
3)If he's there, great pick, but doubt he's there
4)Like the pick
6)Might not be there
7a)Will NOT be there
7b)good pick, but what's with everybody's facination with Crummey? Seriously, every mock on the board has us taking him in the 7th

this isnt bad. im more of a dustin keller fan than tamme but this aint bad.
 
Tracy Porter at #2a is a good one. I'm still not quite on the board with this one yet because I believe we still should pick a DT with this pick. If we can't trade out of the first pick, I think Chris Long is the right pick for us, not only because I feel he will make a bigger impact on our defense, but also because there is so much talent in this year's DT crop that we can draft a very good one in the second round. The DE crop isn't as deep as the DT/NT crop.

Mayo picked at #2b is an absolute steal. I don't think he last that long, but if he is there I would be happy with it.

Carl Nicks in the third might be a little late as well, right now he's projected in the early to mid 2nd round. But once again, he would be an absolute steal with the third as well.
 
Can someone please explain the infatuation everyone has with Brad Cottam? Ok, so he's 6'8'', he also caught a whopping 5 passes this year and 21 for his career. This franchise drafts too many developmental guys as is, can't we draft based on production for once?
 
Thanks for the feedback. I put Cottam in there because he will be there and we need a TE, and based on the senior bowl writeups he did very well there.

My first choice is Tamme. But if he's not there, we still need a TE and Cottam and Finley are both development projects with lots of upside.

Thanks for the feedback. I would be very happy if we got these picks.

My Dorsey vs. Long argument: I guess we'll agree that we disagree on Long vs. Dorsey, because I think DT is a NEED and DE is a WANT. We have Holliday who can play 3-4 DE. We have Wright (who I think is going to be a monster this year now that he should be fully recovered). That to me is starting DE talent. We have no one ready to go in the middle.

I also believe that, while there are other talented DTs in this draft, none of those available at #32 are anywhere near Dorsey's class. His ability to use leverage, strength and quickness are unique for someone his size. He wouldn't have all those accolades including defensive player of the year (ahead of Long) at DT (DT!!!) unless he was very special. Just watch some of his plays. He is a unique talent.

I would accept the Chris Long pick (or Ellis), but I have a strong preference for Dorsey for the Dolphins. If we NEEDed a DE to start it would be closer to a toss up for me between Long and Dorsey. But our NEED is someone in the middle to stop the run. To me that should be what we use the #1 overall pick for, the coincidence of an incredible talent that is a consensus top 3 pick and our most critical need. Dorsey or Ellis. I prefer Dorsey.

Now, if we trade down a few spots (say to #4) and pick up Ellis or Long and a later first or a few 2nd and 3rd rounders, I would be happy, too. But at #1 overall, with the choice of any player in the draft, I'm taking Glenn Dorsey.

Think of it this way. If the Dolphins trade down, there is no way Dorsey is there at #4, but there is a very high likelyhood Long and/or Ellis is there at #4 (Atlanta is probably taking someone on offense, and a team trading up is probably trading up for Ryan or McFadden).

Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback. I would be very happy if we got those picks. We would go a long way to filling some of our starting needs.
 
better. Carl Nicks won't be there in the 3rd (if he is I'll be shocked), but it's better. Tracy Porter is a guy I think will be a stud

I dont remember that we are in need of of a Defensive End but watching our team this year I think a Defensive Tackle makes a whole lot more sense,
so put me down for Dorsey : more talent and more of a team need.

I haven't seen a lot of him, but I remember seeing a Neb. game and thinking, "wow! that left tackle looks really good" so you may be onto something there. Good job!
