I know I will probably get flamed for this but I am going to go with it.

What about bringing in Jeff Blake. I know he is getting up there in age but I saw him step in a couple of times last year in Chicago he could still make all of the throws. IMO he should have been their QB last year. Anyways here are the positives for this scenario.

1) He would come at the vet min. (or real close to it anyway)
2) I have always liked his deep ball (used to have the best in the game)
3) Would be a decent stop gap if Culpepper isn't ready and could probably help groom a young QB (I would love to draft DJ Schockley in the 3rd Round or later and groom him, I really like the kid. Plus we would be able to draft a QB to groom since we would not have much tied up in Blake)
4) We wouldn't have to give up a draft pick like for Joey Harrington who IMO would be a waste. One we would never keep him long term and two he wants too much money for a backup QB!

Now the downside

1) Hasn't had much playing time in the last couple of years
2) Has always been injury prone
3) How much does he have left in the tank?

Thoughts?

I Honestly am Hoping for Schockley in the draft though, He would be my first choice out of all of the QB's in the draft. He is right there as far as skill and he has the most upside of any in the draft IMHO!

Are you sure he is retired? He was with the Bears last year. I know he was listed in the free agent list earlier this offseason. I could be wrong though.

I may get flamed but atleast I am not suggesting the 43 year old Doug Flutie like some people. Even Fin Heaven has him on their poll?

i read some where blake is going to retire. cant remember where but i dont think we sign him or flutie.

To see how many that would actually vote for him. :D

No worries

I would take Blake over Tommy Maddox any day of the Week. Are you kidding me! Has anyone watched Tommy Maddox play lately. He absolutely stunk last year!

But Maddox is not reired.
Let me explain this way. When you have a retired QB in the game, the center will snap the ball to...well nobody. Thus, the ball travels backward each play, and that's if one of our guys falls on it. If not, the other team takes the ball over where their player who fell on it was touched. Or, he may get up and return the "muffed" snap for 6.
I don't see how we can do at all well with a retired Qb under (or not under) center.
You see, now you are getting flamed because you are arguing in favour of a guy who you have been told is retired.
