Jeff Darlington: No plan to reunite Sparano and Gurode

This front office will NEVER do anything anyone else thinks is a good idea. The more they tell them that this or that is messed up and can't be fixed in-house, the more they get stubborn and want to butt heads with that opinion and stick to their guns.

Then, when the house burns down around them, they act as if they knew all along what was going on and it was all apart of their grand plan. :rolleyes2:

He was let go by the 'boys because he and the team couldn't reach a "financial" agreement. So I guess he has a number he wants, and I bet we cant afford it.

the one stinking ex-cowboy who could actually help us we don't get.

Oh well, not surprising. Sparano and Ireland never seem to "get it".

We are over $9 mill under the cap, we can afford it!!

Gurode a center. we are not moving pouncey. shouldnt move pouncey..
Would the steelers have played him at center if they had picked him up? no? They would have had him play guard? Guess what, the steelers organization is 100 times smarter than this one. Ill take their decision over our front staff 8 days a week...

How can Sparano and Ireland watch the same crappy line play we have been watching and not feel compelled to do anything about it when there is an upgrade staring them right in the face?!?!?! I can understand Sparano not seeing it, but I gotta think Ireland is waching that o-line thinking we are in trouble there. PLEASE DO SOMETHING....This team is not that far off and some upgrades on the o-line would be huge!!!!!

Here's why. Coach Fist Pump shows his total incompetence.

But when asked Monday what Colombo must do to return to the level he played at under Sparano in Dallas, Sparano said, “What I see out of Marc now is pretty much what I saw out of Marc then. He’s a tough guy, has great passion for the game.”

I'm a tough guy and I have great passion for the game, it doesn't make me an NFL starting RT you clown. Can't wait till you're fired.

Reporter should have asked him if he saw the same Bobby Carpenter, when he was with the Dolphins, that he saw in Dallas as a follow up question.

so we can bring in flat out scrubs like pat mcq mark colombo and bobby carpenter but we can't bring in and kick the tires of andre gurode despite a gaping hole the size of a crater on the oline...

just baffling...

It's crazy and the only two reasons I can think of as to why they won't do it is 1) they don't want to move Pouncey from Center and Gurode was not a very good Guard and 2) money, Gurode may want more than they want to pay for a 32 year old player.

But we are in a world of hurt on O-line...about as close as you can get to desperate with just 2 weeks to go till the real thing.

I am starting to get very worried that a shift of power towards Sparano (with trying to mend that fence between him and Ireland) is precluding us from signing players that Tony didn't get along with.

It's crazy how little trust this regime has with its fanbase.

Mike's brother started as a guard last year in the spring. He was moved to center only after having a great May and June when the Steelers felt they could trust him. The Dolphins didn't have that luxury. A full off season would have been nice. The more I think of this, the more I'm believing that a large portion of the right side's problems is caused by the lack of practice. Quality is still the major issue, but the lack of practice is not helping. With enough practice, we might be good enough to have a competative offense. The dilema Sparano is facing is whether changing the line now will create greater problems than standing pat because of the loss of any cohesion the OL currently in place may have gained.

Could be a lack of practice and unfamiliarity with Carey. He hasn't played Guard since he was a junior in college, plus he's overweight. Colombo on the other hand sucked in Dallas, which is why he was cut, he was ranked the 2nd or 3rd worst RT in football last year. There is no excuse for him, he just sucks.
