I am tired of seeing people say oh many people what this job. Jeff Darlington said so. They are taking his comment out of context. He neither says many want it nor does he say many will turn it down.

Here is his exact quote and a link to the video where it is quoted from.

"...When you consider that fact that three members of the organization, could likely stay put. That does make for an interesting search. I don't know if your necessarily going to be able to go out... And ugh ... and find anybody that you want. Because they might want to bring their own people in."

" That being said I have already had numerous people around the league, contact me about what the Dolphins are doing. Because this is a coveted job. People see a young Quarterback, they see a nucleus in place. They see a solid Defensive Front. Uh so I think they are going to have a lot of options. If there is on obstacle though its going to be your... your handing the keys to someone but saying hey you got a couple of people riding in your back seat when you drive into the facility."

This is Darlington's exact Tweet any why people are saying that.

Jeff Darlington ‏@JeffDarlington said:
I’ve already heard from multiple people around NFL asking what Dolphins will do at GM. High interest. This is going to be VERY coveted role.

People are quoting a tweet he made, not a video interview. Heres the tweet:

Context seems pretty clear to me.

His "misquote" is right though.

It's much easier to come into a place as a GM with a healthy cap, normal amount of draft picks, and a bunch of young talent than having to come into a job where your cap is screwed, you're talentless, and the last buffoon traded away your picks.

Sure, Philbin will prob stay but most people really respect him. I'm not naive though, Ross will prob have that on the table if need be to get a gm he wants.

Just stand by your tweet darlington

I wouldn't assume everybody is safe that is still here, if the right GM does nbot agree with keeping Philbin that situation could change very easily.

Why fire Philbin until you know who the GM is and whether that GM likes or dislikes Philbin?

Wouldn't you as Stephen Ross leave that decision to the GM you respect versus making that call yourself?

So you are saying that the GM position being a "highly coveted position" is Darlington's opinion, and that idea did not come from the NFL execs he speaks to?

Here is the tweet where does it say NFL Exec says...? It doesn't he Jeff Darlingotn said it. Do I agree yes. But he is quoting nobody. He jsut says there is intrest!

"I’ve already heard from multiple people around NFL asking what Dolphins will do at GM. High interest. (English Grammar Jeff speaking about others here)

This is (English grammar Jeff is the one speaking now) going to be VERY coveted role."

I rest my case.

@JeffDarlington: I’ve already heard from multiple people around NFL asking what Dolphins will do at GM. High interest. This is going to be VERY coveted role.

This is the source of the discussion. You're watching video that has nothing to do with his Twitter post.

Read it again and remember who are the subjects of the sentences.

I'm thinking it's a pretty fluid situation with probably a few possible routes....

1. A potential GM impresses beyond belief and is given full license to do as they wish.

2. A GM is told they're working with Philbin and co, which would likely mean the candidate is someone very much in the Philbin circle of trust.

3. A GM is told they're working with Philbin and co for at least a year. If it works, great. If not, at the end of year one they're given carte blanche to overhaul the organisation.

Quite honestly, either way is better than Ireland doing another draft with this organisation so I'm over the moon.

You seem extremely motivated to debunk the notion that the Dolphins GM job is a good one.
