Jeff Fisher miscalculated....

Of course, dlockz, if they're playing for any other team it's natural they make mistakes. But if they're playing for the Dolphins they are not allowed to make a single mistake. If they do they suck big time and need to be cut. Together with the coaching staff, the waterboy, the stadium announcer and the grass maintenance guy.

If Jake Long made that mistake in a Dolphins uniform you would be all over him, Ryan Tannehill for not eluding the pass rush, Joe Philbin for playing those two in a meaningless preseason game, Ross for hiring Joe Philbin, Wayne Huizenga for selling the team to Ross. Your act is getting old. Real old.

You quite incorrect but thanks for trying to act like you know how I think. If that's true where is all my Tannehill criticism, where is all my Hartline criticism. Every player makes mistakes and has bad games. I always thought we overrated Long but people to act like he is garabage is beyond silly. Now Ellerbee that's garbage that we overpaid for. Comments like this just show ignorance that maybe people have an opinion that's rooted in just their damn opinion. This juvenile theory that I have a bias against my own teams players is stupid proganda executed by posters that don't want to accept that fan has a right to be criticial of a constant non winning team. If Im so biased then we should have had a really good team all these years.5 non winning season should result in more negative comments than positive comments bu to some that's somehow irrational.

Except it wasn't just one play. In addition to the injury sack he was beaten badly by Mingo on an inside move and was called for 2 penalties all on the opening drive. He looked like dog ****. I don't care who's decision it was, ours or his, it looks like we dodged a bullet be not resigning him to a big contract.

Lets not act like we spent that money on any better players in Ellerbee and Wheeler

I was discussing Jake's abysmal performance against Cleveland and how it's probably a good thing we didn't resign him. Where in my post did I mention anything about Ellerbe or Wheeler??

You talked about dodging a bullet by not resigning Long. We spent that money on even worse players so we dodged no bullet. If we spent the money on better players I would agree.
Not sure how you cannot understand that logic.

Jeff Fisher is the NFL's most overrated coach, bar none.

Thank God he's where he is.

This is absolutely Dolphins related.

You can't tell me most of you didn't think the same thing. Bradford hasn't been healthy ever and he passed on the Fins because "they already had a QB in place". He also liked that draft pick but let's face it, he's as good as gone and never had a chance at that division.

have I missed something? where has the QB in Miami led them anywhere?

I think there's a good chance you make the playoffs if he was your coach last year and I think he's done well in SL in the toughest division in football while constantly losing his QB.

Who knows , I really didn't want Fisher either although that's who our owner wanted.

I'm not sure Jeff would have been best for you long term. I think Philbin was a worthy gamble, so far he hasn't gotten it done and history doesn't show many coaches taking this long to get their team to a playoff app(though Fisher is one of those guys) but you never know.

Wheeler and Ellerbe were both signed on the 1st day of free agency while Jake had an offer on the table from the Dolphins. The signings are in no way related. Not quite sure how you don't understand that logic. I'm in no way, shape, or form defending Ireland or the signings, you are somehow trying to put Wheeler's and Ellerbe's names in my mouth for no reason. Moving along...

you don't dodge any bullets when you spend big money on crappy players. If they had signed good players or saved that money I could buy your logic. We dodged no bullet and trotted out the worst line in the league last year. Jake Long is not an all pro but we probably would have made the playoffs last year with a solid LT.

In fact if we kept our linebackers intact resigned Long then we don't have the huge holes that we had last year. Not a great team but one that probably could have made playoffs.
Hell we might not have even had the idiotic scandal last year because who knows what happens if Martin stays at Right tackle.

Calculated is the right word, I wouldn't say that he miscalculated though.

You don't seriously think that who the Rams' executive VP of football operations is related to didn't factor into his decision do you?

Hmmmmm, you can report to Ross, or you can report to the son of your agent.

Now THERE is a real tough one folks... :ponder:

he wanted power he couldn't get here. Probably made right call on both parts except we hired Philbin which moots the right call

Again, WTF does Wheeler or Ellerbe have to do with it and when did I mention either??? Nevermind....LAST WORD....YOU'RE THE WINNER!!! :3w:

What bullet did we dodge. Our line was complete crap last year. We didn't spend 8.5 million on Long we spent 7 million on one of the worst middle linebackers in the league, we spent 5 million on one of the worst outside linebackers in the league.
we set a dolphin record for sacks, we couldn't run the ball. we spent 12 million a year on a very average wr. We sign a washed up Rt to good money. Again what bullet was dodged.

All I can say is, I like dlockz, but I still I think this post is beautiful.

the problem is its not accurate. where is all my criticism of tannehill and other players. The idiotic notion that Im antidolphin is beyond stupid. Cant anyone accept that a team that has put a winning season in 5 years, that's half a decade and has had 2 winning seasons in the last decade deserves more criticism than praise. Long did make those mistakes in a dolphin uniform and I felt he was overrated but a good player. That's where is post is not being genuine. I never advocated sending big money on Long or even drafting him but I never once said he wasn't a good LT while he was a dolphin. The very same thing people accuse me of happens as soon as a player takes off a dolphin uniform with many posters on this board. please feel free to point out any dolphin player I have heaped praise on when they changed teams that I didn't say good things about when they were a dolphin. Dansby for example, I always said we overpaid but never once did I say Dansby sucks as a MLB and when we cut him for ellerbee I said right then that it was a bad move, I didn't wait until he actually made plays elsewhere
