There was one answer that was intriguing. I'll transcribe by hand...

"Q: What was the thinking that went into trading Josh and keeping John, and did you guys try to trade both of them there was a rumor a couple of weeks ago that you'd spoken to Dallas about maybe some trade value for John."

"A: Well, what it came down to is, obviously we didn't know Pennington was going to be out there. So, things changed pretty quickly when we were able to pick up that thing that fell out of the tree there. So, that was, obviously, a good move for us when we did pick up Chad. But coming down to either- well, actually, Tony was right on when he said we might keep four quarterbacks. When we decided that we weren't going to keep four, we decided that, who really has the best upside? And we felt that John was still a young player, and he's done a great job in the last week and a half, and felt like that was the player we felt like has more upside, more future to him and more developmental possibilities, so John was the guy we went with."

Straight out of the horse's mouth. The decision to trade Josh McCown was an extension of the decision on whether to keep John Beck or Josh McCown. They decided John Beck was the more valuable player, and so they traded off McCown for a 7th.

Edgar Thompson tried to press him on the John Beck/Dallas rumor and Ireland said he is not about to confirm or deny any rumors that they tried to trade Beck, Josh McCown is the player they traded.

Or he is talking out his *** about Beck and pretending he has upside and building it up that way so they can attempt to fleece some clueless team in a trade.

Umm, yeah you just suggested that Ireland is lying and this is all a conspiracy to trade John.

Well, lets say hypothetically that the FO did indeed still want to trade Beck. If that were the case, wouldnt saying what Sparano said make perfect sense??

I agree with Ireland there. Can't say I agree with the coaches' decision to basically shut down Beck for the preseason, though. I mean, if Pennington get's injured, that leaves you in a pretty bad situation, with only one quarterback having gotten any significant game action in a new offense.

Also said we will continue to be active as each wave of cuts occur.

He actually said this when asked specifically about Chad Jackson.

McCown had no place on this team. He was a journeyman vet QB, who got his job taken from him the moment Pennington was released. There was no reason to keep McCown. Beck can be developed and traded in a few seasons, McCown couldn't. I doubt he'll be traded this year, but I'm sure he will be available in the next few seasons. Theres no market for him anymore anyways. Quite a few QBs were just released, including Chris Simms. If someone needs a QB, they'll sign him or whomever else just became available......

Yeah but if you listen to that answer, his answer didn't have anything to do with Chad Jackson and the question only MENTIONED Chad Jackson as a mere example in a broader question of whether the roster is now set or whether they'll still be looking at guys. His answer was basically, you've seen us for 6-7 months now, has it ever stopped? Have we ever stopped trying to improve the team? No, it won't stop. There are still some more waves coming and we'll take a look and improve whenever we see the right player that fills the right need.

He was asked specifically about how they felt about having 1st and 2nd year players as the backups to Pennington and he said they feel very good about that, they feel very good about where Henne is, and also John Beck.

That part could be coach speak, who knows. But, I think there's a better than half chance Beck is sticking to this roster for this season. Bottom line is, he didn't have to say the things he said, he could have glossed over things a little bit more instead of fleshing out some detail...choosing to flesh out more detail to me indicates you're more willing to stick by this decision.

I thought the comment about the OLB position was rather interesting too. Calling Joey Porter "Healthy"!

Healthy, as with all things coach-speak, is a nuanced word. Healthy in the pre-season means there's nothing wrong with you and no abnormal risk of injury. Healthy in the regular season means the guy might be banged up a bit, but he's playing because it's nothing serious and everybody plays through pain and minor injuries at some point.
