Jeff Ireland addresses state of Dolphins

People have to understand, Coach Philbin is a Qb guru. Let him do his magic and make this kid as good as he can be.

Philbin was quoted in the press setting the record straight ... saying he had nothing to do in the past with QB Development, didn't work with QBs, & doesn't know where that rumor came from.

Shows how blind enthusiasm replaces fact across the board ... from major media to blogs for months on end, & continues after the truth is emphasized.

And then you had that stooge, Tony Sparano, taking average talent and getting nothing out of it because all he had was a lousy Tecmo Bowl playbook.

we should have tried to sign Bo Jackson out of retirement if this is true. He was unstopable on that game.

I absolutely love that Ireland was describing all the WRs and completely forgot Clyde Gates. Clearly he's making an impact.

I don't understand what Tannehill could learn from the likes of Matt Moore. How to throw inaccurate passes and choke in the red zone against good teams? How about how to drop snaps from shotgun or not remember the snap count? Or having a 50 something quarterback rating against winning teams?

YEAH! MATT MOORE ROCKS!

If there is a positive change, it has to do with the fact that he got a QB and can take a breath - Tannehill gives him some time to remain on the throne

the only reason people hated ireland was no reason at all. just another scape goat and misplaced blame/anger Ireland has got us some solid guys that everyone wants to "trade/cut/replace" but he really has helped this team out. Parcells didnt seem to come through for us all that much, but at least he hired ireland. i honestly like ireland always have. people just automatically wanted to "clean house" and etc etc. its a lynch mob metality an prob would not have benefitted the team.

im not sure what anyone could learn from you and your "rockin" posts.

If Ireland's vision on Defense is to have a more than just 2 pass rushers, he might be on to something. Much like the NY Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and to a lesser degree the San Fransisco 49'ers; who send wave after wave of pass rushers, the Dolphins should be built in that mold. Signing Wake to an extension and Drafting Olivier Vernon, who could provide Miami with a legitimate 2nd rusher is a solid start for Ireland. If over the next 2 drafts, Ireland can select a few role players, who specialize in rushing the passer and supplying heat, then this defense could take the next step and become "ELITE".

It wasn't that Jeff Ireland was using the Bill Parcells philosophy, it was Bill Parcells using the Bill Parcells philosophy.

Parcells is stubborn. That dude is going to do what he wants to do and I can damn near guarantee that he never took into account Ireland's opinions/expertise. And as a result, Ireland takes a lot of **** from the fans. People just need to point fingers so that they can then lay blame. I knew that it was one of the two ****ing this whole thing up and I had a damn good feeling it was Parcells given his track record.

I can see Ireland right now looking Parcells in the eye and thinking to himself, "What a dumbass. Is this dude serious? Whatever, man."

And then you had that stooge, Tony Sparano, taking average talent and getting nothing out of it because all he had was a lousy Tecmo Bowl playbook.

I agree, and a +1 for the techmo bowl reference :brewskis:

The difference is they put together a nice draft and resigned Wake. Those were two items he had to get done and was able to. He is still the same but the media has nothing to beat him up over.

Actually you can learn from that.....what not to do! This is how you lose close ball games.

But back to Ireland, it has been said that he tries to work with the head coach to get the type of players they like without having too much say in the end about who will be chosen.

Philbin clearly laid out his type of offense and defense with his staff and let jeff do his job. The laid back trusting approach is working like a charm if you ask me.

Honestly, Dolphin fans are so weird.

Ummm... Why would he come out and say he was the reason why the Qb play was at it's best?? No professional coach will openly take credit, so you're point is absolutely moot, but good try though buddy

All we do know from the FACTS(not quotes of coach speak), is that they had Excellent Qb play while under him and the team of Coaches. Also, Philbin was the main staple there for years on Offense, so if you don't think he had anything to do with the QB play then idk what to tell you

aaron rodgers gave philbin alot of credit. No one knows if it is well deserved but, definitely was received. Mike Sherman is the only qb guru i know. This guy was there with brett and arod. he helped develop guys like matt hasselbeck, aaron rodgers, and keep bretts offense top 10 every year!

Sorry, I am not buying it. This belief that Ireland was under the shadow of Parcells and didn't have any say or whatever. His last draft still reeked of Parcells and wasn't Parcells gone already?

What I believe has happened is that Ireland saw the Turk and knew if he didn't change up what he's been doing/was taught he'd be the one cut from the team sooner rather than later.

He was forced to look at himself in the mirror and make a choice as to which path he would take.

So far, it seems like he decided to take a path where he still holds the Parcells beliefs at his core but has begun to become his own man.

Even though this team hasn't taken a snap yet, I respect him for that and hope that he continues on this path and that we succeed because of it.

Actually, regardless of success, I applaud him for opting to mold his philosophy and try a new approach instead of simply saying to hell with it and continue the course that has only netted barely medicore results.
