Jeff Ireland interview on 790 your opinion

My favorite part is when Dan asks him what the direction of the team is. He could easily give some coachspeak and say we want a competitive, tough team that wins games. No, he just says that he won't answer it. I'm not as much an Ireland hater as a lot of you guys, but that just comes off as arrogant and stupid. You have to be more transparent or you are losing a ton of fans this year.

I would rather have him sound arrogant than unsure of himself. This man is in charge of a lot of big egos. He needs to have one himself.

I'm just glad he's become more willing to speak to the media. I can deal with arrogance if he develops a winning product.
Willing to speak to the media??? how about an empty stadium and trying to get people to go to fanfest next weekend..... thats the only reason he did it because he has no choice. The fact that this town has Heat/Marlins/Panthers has really put pressure on the fins

Ireland did not get where he is today by pleasing people like you on Finheaven. He needs to be like he is to make it in this business, like him or not he is the Fins GM.

The best leaders I have met in my life have almost no ego. They have self-confidence and a belief in themselves and there abilities and know the strengths and weaknesses of other and use them to the their full potential...EGO is not required or desired.

Totally disagree. There is a fine line between ****iness and confidence, the trick is having the ability to walk on that fine line. Some people will think he comes off as confident, others egotistical. He needs to be that way to succeed at his job.

I have never met a true leader with a big ego...I have met many that were "put in positions of leadership", but that didn't make them leaders....

Despite his utter lack of social skills atleast with Jeff Ireland making the picks I know it will produce better then we had before him.

If he was good at his job we would forgive him for his arrogance and lack of a personality. Truth is since he sucks at what he does we look for any reason to complain about him.
At this point in his years with the Dolphins he is in a no win situation, the fanbase is fed up with him and no matter what he does on draft day we will find a way to criticize his doings..

He didn't say anything new, but I expected that. The draft is right around the corner.

Honestly - i think he did pretty well there.

he seemed to be willing to joke a little bit, and was as honest as he could be on most things. he also pretty much took the blame for pat white, even though parcells had laid the ground work for him to cop out of it.

the guys were really hammering him right off the bat with some negative stuff etc. and he took it in stride pretty much. He also was honest of flynn etc.

i think this interview was beneficial for ireland and the dolphins image overall. they should keep doing this. I also kind of like how he doesnt care about the "dolfan hate" quite frankly most fans dont know what goes on anyway, you have to let that roll off you.

And I have met plenty. Some of the world's biggest and best leaders, throughout different industries have huge ego's, and they back it up.
