Jeff Ireland is no clown in the eyes of his peers

How come when Armando writes something negative about the Dolphins, he's a no-talent loser that should be unemployed, yet when he writes something positive, its a great article and he's coming around?

For the record, I think Armando is a no talent loser that should be unemployed no matter what he writes.

People in management positions in sports don't criticize their own. This is not new. Professional sports, more than anything else, demands media exposure from people who aren't accustomed or trained to handle it so everything is and will always be a lot of vanilla back scratching.

How come whenever someone tells the media good things about Ireland it is not believed and usually met with eye roll? However when one person tells the media something bad about him people take that as gospel? Seems strange.

7-9, 7-9, 6-10 ... that's why!! Reality is not so strange!!

No one is saying GM has not drafted some good players and done a few good things in FA that also included some bad moves.

What he has not done in the last 4 years is draft any quality QB in any round. Thats 28 rounds and over 30 picks.

Okay, since everyone think they know more than Ireland, let's see.. based on your assessments of him,

1. we shouldn't have gotten Kevin Burnett last year
2. Shouldn't have drafted Pouncey, Clay, Gates, Jimmy Wilson, and Thomas last year.
3. Shouldn't have traded for R. Bush
4. Shouldn't have sign Mat Moore.

Bad signings in omho last year was Columbo.

My biggest disapointment during the whole time the parcell regime was here is the OL, I thought with all the experitse we had we'd have that nail down.
We drafted Long and Pouncey, that seems like good players, but we had to get them in the 1st round. I'm disappointed that our later rounds selections on the OL haven't worked out well, still holding out hope for John Jerry.. The OL to me make Henne look bad, it didn't help Mat much last year..this has been our hall of shame in the 4 years Sparano was here, get that right, Henne would be our Fanchise QB today...got that wrong and he looks like Brady when brady doesn't get good protection. Oh did I say that, yes I did, Brady gets a ton of time to throw behind his OL..when Henne had time, he was deadly..his 2nd year was fantastic and had us all excited, then we change the OL in his 3rd year and regression set in.. The trenches is where it's at.. Ireland is great on the DL side when it comes to the trenches, now I'm hoping Phibin can steer him to the promise land on the OL side of the house..fix that, and we'll be better than you guys think with our present QB and WR's, before we add more talent in the draft.

Interesting that the compliments are "works hard...organized...has a plan" but none of the compliments are about a "great mind...makes good decisions...can evaluate talent...gets players that help the team get better...knows how to negotiate." Personally, I would rather have the latter for a GM.

I've been backing Ireland for a while now.... I honestly have no idea why so many of our fans here are so vehemently calling for his head.

When you look at the last 20-25 moves we made, between cutting players/drafting players/signing players, I really think we have done well. I havent been able to say that about the fins with a straight face in a long time, but I can lately.

People are acting like just because we didn't get a franchise quarterback in free agency, Ireland MUST be the worst GM in the league. Yet there are 22+ other teams who are in the same position...

He's a smart guy, at least smarter than people like Sparano, Cameron, Mueller, Wannstedt etc... He studies football as his job and is currently dedicated to the Miami Dolphins, and honestly if you look at the pure facts he hasn't done a bad job. Please guys remember that Pat White was Parcells' guy.

Why should he be fired again???

They're after his head b/c he was brought in by Parcells. They're pissed at Parcells so they take it out on Ireland. It's pure stupidity.

"I think Jeff has had a lot of success in the role he's been in, and what's clear to me is they have a plan and he understands what kind of football team he wants to put together."

I don't know how old that quote is, but the Parcells model and the Philbin model are quite different. I'll give Garrett a pass if he said it before the Philbin hire. The kind of team Parcells/Sparano wanted built isn't what Philbin wants. Ireland will have to change his concept of the team he wants to put together or this regime won't succeed. Different styles need different players.

Good things said about dolphins are good fair and well written articles, articles portraying us in a negative light are just reaching for straws but hacks with a vendetta against us

"His peers" want Ireland to be Miami's GM for the same reason we want Sanchez to stay the Jets QB!

His peers won't even bash Matt Millen what does that tell you? The NFL is a small community and you never know who will be your boss, or if you need a favor.

No they just help you in your daily bashing agenda.

Have you ever heard anyone in the nfl say yea that rick speilman is an idiot. people just dont say these things within the nfl doesnt really mean alot

Have you ever heard anyone said Rick Speilman has a plan and is very successful at what he does? You hear praise for guys that deserve it, and you hear nothing for guys that dont. Nobody says anything about Speilman because there is nothing good to say about him.

We got rid of the coach responsible for that record. Do we need to fire every staff member of the organization to turn it around? That's like replacing the whole car when you only have a flat tire. You only need to replace the broken part, and that was Sparano and his coaching staff.
