Jeff Ireland & Rob Ryan = Success

Oh dear God please let the Rob Ryan insanity stop....please.

The man has not had an elite defense much less lead a team. Please...no more...let sanity prevail. Rob Ryan will not be successful because he is Rex's brother just like Mike Shula was not successful just because he was Don's son. Let's judge our candidates on their track records not their names. I challenge ANYONE to show me ANYTHING Rob Ryan has accomplished that we are willing to give him our distressed franchise? Any concrete results and accomplishments BETTER than what we have. Anyone?

This rob ryan talk is complete nonsense.

the absolute worst part about it is that i could actually see this organization getting him because they think promotional stunts are more important than putting together a winning team.

They start by default, we have no one else. Not one of those guys has shown the stuff to be a big time player, except maybe Vontae who has flashed a couple times.

Rob Ryan is nobody. People only want him cause he's Rex's brother. Ireland is a terrible GM. Your thread is utter failure.

I hate the Rob Ryan talk more than any other popular subject on this board right now.

Ask yourself if these guys would start on any other teams and the answer is no. Just because he drafted starters for us does not make him a success. Davis and Langford are the only guys that would start for other teams.
Whatever you say about Ireland, percentage wise he has drafted successfully. IMO his biggest weakness has been FA, but for the basis of this argument he has IMO drafted defensively very well.

Not including past draft he has drafted 7 potential starters in 3 yrs:-

Langford
Davis
Smith
Clemons
Odrick
Misi
Reshard Jones.

Including all defensive draft picks (14) that is a success rate of 50%. That is starting potential. Does not include players such as Nolan Carroll, Dotson, Merling or Spitler.

Judging Rob Ryan on the talent he had in Oakland, Cleveland and now in Dallas, if Ireland drafts defensively at this rate just imagine what he could do.

Funny thing is I would want to keep Daboll, giving us the Browns co-ords of last season????

lol at the ireland bashing. everything is GONE GONE! CLEAN HOUSE! AHHHH

rob ryan? uh no. sorry. aint buyin that one. its too early yet. more sucking to do. ireland wont be here. he and sparano are a package of billy P. time to change.....again.

Smith, Davis and Landlord are solid young players. He hasn't done anything else drafting defensively wise besides rotational depth guys. On offense we ve gotten 2 good linemen with really high picks and not much else. Bess n Hartline are good value and solid players but we haven't drafted a play maker on either side of the ball and we ve had plenty of chances.

Ireland has done some decent drafting but left holes at TE, QB, RT, RG, and now CB (sean smith is softy by nature-he didnt bite as a pup).

This team is primed for Luck to come right in and make things much better. Draft a RT with next pick and like two more friggin OL. If you can get your hands on a NT, by all means, do it!

This team wont need to be rebuilt when new guy comes in, only retool with younger studs.

Rob Ryan? This is getting ridiculous.
Cowher, Fisher, Tressel, Gruden....we need a winning head coach.
No more on the job training!!!
Let the coach pick his own player PP guy. If it is Ireland..so be it.

Some how I think this team will somehow screw up getting the number 1 pick...it is just par for course.

Don't Bogart the blunt. You're starting to halucinate. All players mentioned could be bench material on even an average team. Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are not too shabby. They are also not too turnover-producing. Langford is inconsistent at best. Odrick is lethargic. Clemons is lost. Misi get's man-handled. Reschard Jones is around the ball a lot... after first downs.

Ireland is terrible. And any other shot-caller who doesn't solve the problem of righting the most important position on a football team will also be terrible. I don't care if it's an All-Pro squad surrounding Chad Henne. If it's still Chad Henne or the next joe blow discount QB another dunce, empty ball-bagged GM tries to scrape off the bottom of the barrel, then that GM, head coach- whatever- is t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e.

Having said that, how this defense went from top ten to deadlast is curious. Mike Nolan being the automatic next in line coach if Sporano gets fired mid-season is curious. The lack of bliz packages and the simplicity of blitz packages called is curious. I hope I'm the first one to type it on this forum- the Nolan Consipiracy has officially begun.
