Ireland was a wide receiver and placekicker and soccer forward for Cooper High School in the 1980s, and then a placekicker for the Baylor Bears from 1988 to 1991. Upon the conclusion of his playing career, he served as special teams coach for the North Texas Mean Green from 1992 to 1993.At Baylor, Ireland was known for making difficult kicks but missing the easy ones. Against Rice University in 1991, for example, he made a 58-yard field goal, then missed field goals of 43, 45, and 27 yards. Baylor, a 20.5 point favorite, lost the game by three points. Baylor was ranked 8th in the Associated Press poll at that time.[SUP][1][/SUP]
Ireland is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Per Wikipedia. I'm kind of embarrassed he went to my high school. This may explain why he drafted Caleb Sturgis LOL.

Jeff Ireland hasn't been on this team in over a year and still people are making posts to blast him, lol. It's time to let it go guys... :)

Ireland was here messing things up for over six years. It's going to take more than just a single year to rid this franchise of his stink.

3 misses for 1 hit.....sounds about right!

If only his draft picks hit that often....his failures as a GM are downright historical....Wheeler, Ellerbe, Pat White....Martin....Jesus, if I saw him tomorrow, I'd still kick him in the nuts.

I don't consider him a failure as a college kicker, he wasn't that good but he did hold the kicking job the entire time he was there. He didn't get fired from his kicking job like he did his nfl job. Hopefully the owner will finally do the same with mediocre Joe.

Kind of like his drafts. He'll nail a late round pick right down the middle (acorns), and miss a chip shot (1st round).

But yeah I agree, let it go. Two Different people have taken control of the front office since he's been fired.

You went to cooper city? That's cool I played against you guys a few times. I went to Northeast.

I think the 'Cooper High' he went to was in Abilene TX, not Cooper City High in Cooper City, FL :idk:

Jeff Ireland is the main reason our team is in such good shape today, the man built the foundation of this roster and found us our best QB since Marino. He made his share of mistakes, but also his share of brilliant moves like Clay and Jones in the 6th, Lamar and Hartline in the 4th, Vernon in the 3rd, Griems and Wake in fa, and pretty much every first round pick was solid. A lot of Dolphins fans are just kinda stupid in thinking he was this awful gm because in reality he wasn't. But our fans don't even show up for home games unless the team is doing well so that's just our fan base I guess, kinda lame lol. At least the team is good thanks to Ireland/Hickey. And btw I worked at M&T Bank stadium for years, so I know what a good fan base is supposed to looks like.

Jeff - It's great to see you back on FH. Seems like your natural modesty has fully returned after the little dent (Philip Wheeler and his agent send their thanks) and you are set to renew your destiny as an acorn farmer in New Orleans. All Dolphin fans miss your warm and friendly presence in the organization. Much love...
