grill me if you must...i dont know if anyone is even capable of drafting him...

i just know that he went 0-5 last month in single a...he was booted to the bullpen...and got roasted by cubs management for making comments on his blog...

if baseball is not working out for him, would you invest a draft pick for him in the supplemental draft...that said, if it is even possible to draft him...

I am not sure which draft he would enter. I do know that the last player I know to fail at baseball and then switch back to football has been a failure in the nfl as well also (henson). Cant compare the two, but I just wanted to mention that. I thought that he should have went into the nfl draft anyways and I am actually suprised that no one used a late pick to take him in this previous draft.

im sorry for the post, in some ways...i was reading up on minor league baseball when i saw just how bad he was doing...the cubs have a lot of money invested in him, so they arent going to ditch him for pitching poorly out of the gate but youd have to think that hes probably questioning his decision to give up football...if a team invested in him it would sure create a swirl of controversey....

anyway, i was thinking out loud...

Just read an article about him on PFT the other day. Should he leave baseball now, he would become an immediate free agent, free to sign with anyone. They wrote:

"..former Notre Dame receiver Jeff Samardzija could end up in the NFL before too long. As a pitcher, a guy can either bring it or he can't. Though plenty of ball-throwers over the years have suddenly lost their mojo like Steve Blass, it's rare that the switch flips from "off" to "on." If the guy can't post a win in "A" ball, how can he ever develop into a threat four levels up?
If Samardzija decides to make the switch to pro football, the fact that he was not drafted means that he can sign with any team."

wow tailgun...that is very intriguing...my immediate guess is, if he decided to give football another shot, hed go to the highest bidder or cleveland...

If he could become a free agent than he would be rich, But who knows what he will do

perhaps we should use our 4th rounder on him, maybe that's a loophole out of giving it up for green later, since it's technically only a 5th right now :D

If he becomes a free agent, no doubt he's gonna roll with Brady Quinn.

I don't think thats true. I think he would go to the team that he feels most comfortable and who pays the most

Why do you guys think that he'll automatically go and play with Quinn? For a reunion? Maybe if CLE was the highest bidder. Judging from the past behavioral history of certain owners, I'd say he'd go to Dallas or Washington.

He was already eligible to be drafted and wasn't. He is a free agent now, and not eligible to be drafted in the supplemental draft.
