In the first game of the 2014 season, the Miami Dolphins earned a victoryover the New England Patriots, but suffered what should have been a major setback when starting weak side linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was lostfor the season to a hip injury. Already thin at the LB position, the Dolphins were faced with a decision: they could attempt to fill Ellerbe’s void with a veteran signing, or they could look for a replacement internally. Miami gave the opportunity to second-year player Jelani Jenkins, who has taken full advantage of his playing time this season and has quietly blossomed into one of the top outside linebackers in all of football this season.

Beast. Guy doesn't miss tackles. I remember some scouting reports from members here saying he lacks instincts and is nothing special. Well a year changes alot

First year players have a difficult time playing instinctively. Usually they're still digesting a new playbook, adjusting to the speed of the NFL, and finding a role in the team. I think Jenkins is really coming into his own this year.

Yet he nor the rest of this great defense are getting love in the pro bowl voting. Cam Wake is, Grimes is somehow 7th in the voting....no love elsewhere for these players who are playing lights out. Shame

Rashard Jones should be no question. I think the suspension is held against him. The games missed

Jenkins had to get bigger too. There were plenty of times last year where he'd react the right way to a play but he couldn't bring the offensive player down

Jenkins has been all anyone can ask for, and then some. I thought he would be good as a rotation LB because of his cover ability but, not as an every down player. Very happy to be wrong, and he is a great fit in Coyle playing 2 LB's a lot.

I love what jenkins has done. I do have a question though. Whatever happened to tripp??

I'm delighted in Jelani Jenkins' great form but the heading of him being a "savior" is pretty ridiculous.
Everything about the Dolphins improvement is about team with all parts contributing - it's not about an individual.

Definitely coming into his own, and he should only get better..

Just wish we had a stud MLB to move Misi back outside. Maybe Chris Borland makes Bowman or Willis expendable in SF
