Jerome Messam to have another surgery

And whats the surgery on?? Could be minor and Ireland wouldnt have sign him if it was.....
sounds like it is on the same meniscus.
The Dolphins are hoping to uncover another gem from the CFL with running back Jerome Messam. But Messam’s offseason is now in question thanks to a meniscus injury he initially suffered in his left knee in November while playing for the Edmonton Eskimos.

Messam, a bruising 6-4, 248-pound back who participated in the Dolphins’ rookie minicamp two weekends ago, wrote on his Twitter account today that he will undergo surgery again on Tuesday.
“Trying to stay positive about tomorrow, its hard tho when you have two surgeries in 5 months. #faith,” he wrote.
Messam, 27 years old and signed to a three-year deal worth the rookie minimum, rushed for 1,057 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games last year. He is competing with Steve Slaton and several young players for the fourth running back job.

REALLY??? Name them. Better yet, let me start.

1) BUSH-topshelf scatback, and maybe a solid, true HB; but he didn't finish last season, and if MIAMI had made the Playoffs...!

2) DT--Couldn't stay healthy. Wasn't exactly stellar, even at 100%. Can't get into the endzone/in fact, lacks power, period. Bust?

3) SLATON--may be worn down already. Does a lot of things fairly well, but unfortunately, fumbling is one of them.

4) MILLER--Much like BUSH. Unknown quantity: a "college boy". But he MAY just be a steal...so, a keeper 'till we know for sure.

5) MESSIAM--From CANADA. Looks good on paper.More HB than FB, and has an injury problem. May be ok: forget HB/FB crap.

6) GRAY--Recovering from ACL tear, otherwise 'FINS don't get him at all. Runs w/authority, is versatile. Maybe a better DJ?

SO...

I see ONE known quantity, who is topshelf (R BUSH): unfortunately, he's a F/A next season!!! I also see two "question marks", who MAY be solid, but who are recovering from knee injuries. (MESSIAM and GRAY) And I see a potential "bust" who many are beginning to make excuses for (DT), and a retread (SLATON)...a castoff w/some mileage on him, who may/may not be good at all. And then, there's our "college boy"...who already has a shoulder issue, and doesn't seem to want to protect the football at all.

OK! So where are all those good HBs who grow on trees? I see ONE really solid HB, and a lot of "question marks".

Are you counting wishful thinking as "money in the bank? Or maybe just spewing a lot of "Homey sop"?

That sucks. I thought he was going to be our starting FB and short yardage back.

I can't find his name but we have a guy in camp that started as a TE in college, then was moved to and played linebacker well and we plan on trying out here as a fullback for us. I wrote a thread about him here but now I can't find it. (a little help here please)

I thought that he and Messam were going to fight it out at fullback and Clay was going to be moved more to TE. I had mentioned that if this ex-LB somehow won the starting FB role that it could cause a ripple effect. But now it is a reverse of that. If this guy cannot be effective at FB then Clay is moved back to FB/H-back and another pure TE might make the team.

I think us signing Lamar Miller sealed S Slaton's fate by the way. Slaton simply is not that good and does not give us anything that D Thomas, R Bush and L Miller can't.

This made me wonder about what happened to UDFA Nic Grigsby. It seems like the Raiders signed him from our practice squad then the Bucs sign him from the Raiders.
