So it turns out that Jerome has a 3.3 Average. That is terrible. I know that he is a back up but how does he have a 3.3 average for the season and still be considered as an allstar runningback (maybe not by you here but by enough of my peers), and that is rediculous. Jerome is not good, he is old and it is a good thing he is retiring.

hmmm so much bashing to do, so little time...

Most of his carries are short-yard situations, and at the goal line. The last couple seasons he's been like a full-back.

You've got to be kidding me. Take a look at his TD to Carry ratio. He scores a TD every 12 carries. Shaun Alexander? Every 14 carries. I wonder why Bettis has such a good ratio... Maybe it's because the majority of his carries come on 1st and goal. Why is his average so low? I'm gonna guess that it's because he gets the rest of his carries on 3rd and short. Man, I'd hate to have a RB that only averages 3.3 yards when I have the ball on 3rd and 2.

:shakeno:

Take a look at his stats last year for the games he started. The name Willie Parker is the one that pushed bettis into his current role.

There are a lot of RB's better than the BUS.

Bettis has 91 TDs in 196 games.
Alexander has 89 TDs in 92 games.

Case closed. The Bus is a glorified fullback.

Bettis first half stats in one game last season. They were something like

4 carries
-1 yards
3 TDs

That pretty much sums him up over the last few years.

Bettis is what he is, a backup to a mediocre back. Bettis is a someone opposing defenses are that concerned with outside 3rd and 1. His numbers are down because he is used mostly in short yardage and goaline situations, but he isn't much use outside that anyways.

He doesn't even play fullback.

Do you even know what the fullback position is? :shakeno:

Who said anything about his career? We're talking about this season.

I have always thought Bettis was overrated. He is good, but when I hear he has already earned his hall of fame spot and he hasn't won a championship yet I am just shocked.

Owned.

Bettis is basically a FB guys. He gets carries when the D almost knows he will get carries.

Well, you have to think... Most of his runs are on the goal line... with only a possible 1 or 2 yards... That hurts his average ALOT...

Theres no other RB i would want in a goal line situation or 3rd and short situation. hes a monster when need be

Bettis is a good goaline runner and thats great but he's hyped like he's a great Rb that dominates the game, hes just a decent short yardage guy. Hes overweight and can't run outside anymore. Hes a likeable guy and all but the hype this week around him was a little over the top. I don't think hes an alltime great Rb either.
