Jerry at LG

Lol john jerry came to my store yesterday around 3ish (best buy in davie), and our direct tv rep was setting him up with direct tv and the guy pitched him the nfl ticket so he can watch football, and john jerry started to crack up and said "man i play for the nfl!!" lol too funny

If Jerry keeps going the way he is, he's gonna need the Sunday Ticket.

GOD DAMN IT TONY! If we're going to put Jerry at LG why not move Incognito to
RG, and put Carey back at RT. Have a Garner / Jerry competition for
LG.

BEAN: and there you have it. this is tonys biggest guffaw to me is the CONSTANT tinkering with the o-line. outside of pouncy every one of these guys has been here and columbo worked under t/s in dallas so he is a known. he should have had his choices done and his line should be getting 90% of the work together to start gelling, get the rb's used to there blocking and qb's used to there blocking and pouncy getting know the guys surrounding him and how they should all mesh.

he tinkers and tinkers and tinkers untill the last pre game and then starts a group day one and makes a change or two every other game. now, some has been from injuries and cant be helped but he does this every camp BEFORE guys are hurt.

to me this is a no brainer: long, incognito [who graded out second to long and sixth in the leauge at guard and played exellent at center]. cary at rg and tony brought in columbo with a multi year deal so start him at rt and theres your line.

you didnt like jerry last year so keep him as an alternate and let him get his second string reps and then see what happens if he has to come in for an injured or non productive player.

but you have to get a line reps in camp and lots of them. expecially when a new scheme is coming in which usually means new protection schemes and line calls and even philosophies, zone block, straight up or based on the old washington counter trey or the bronco cut back scheme. and i will go to my grave believing our o-lines issues are mostly the product of not enough cohesion in camp, to much tinkering.

put long, incognito, pouncy, cary and columbo out there and let them gel. let them get the kinks worked out, dont yank a guy everytime he misses a call or a block. the bench is full of guys who can come in and miss blocks and calls. let them become a unit and dont tinker unless a guy is injured or clearly not being productive through camp and the first two pre season games.

Never said that, but it's quite obvious Incognito is not a good move player, and he would be much better suited either playing center or RG where he only has to go straight ahead. Garner can play LG and either tackle position because of his ability to move. If I had it my way (with this current line), it would be Long/Pouncey/Incognito/Carey/Garner. With a possible Garner/Carey flip-flop and Jerry in competition for RG. I don't think many people (who know what they're talking about) would disagree with that being the ideal o-line.

This is not a MOVE offense. LOL I can see the majority here really knows nothing about how coaching works. They dress 8 Olineman on game day. 5 starters plus Murtha backup OT or RT but Murtha makes it. Berger backup center. Its obvious Jerry is no RG probably going to be no guard at all. Its between Garner and Jerry to make the backup guard position because I doubt Feinga will even dress on game day unless there is an injury and he is needed. So what do you do ? You let Garner and Jerry work it out and whoever the best man is, wins, the other gets cut. Jerry, most likely will either be cut or if possible, traded to a team in dire need of a backup Olineman. Its not rocket science folks. Garner hasn't practiced since when ? second week of 2010 camp. Jerry basically showed up, left , then came back and it appears he has no illnesses this year but is still not starter material, anywhere. They have to see where they are with Olineman, its that simple. You do not see how someone plays by consistently keeping him with the second or third unit. There is a strong likelihood Jerrys days as a Dolphin are running short.

If any of you bothered to actually look into what happened, here it is, straight from Dolphins.com. One would think a rock star journalist like Omar Kelly with all his supposed " inside connections " would have been well aware of what was going on. To all the present great coaches on this board, enjoy.

DOLPHINS TIDBITS: This time the offense got to wear the orange practice jerseys and the defense was stuck in the aqua, as there were no white jerseys for the first time. Fortunately, there was a constant breeze to keep the players, coaches and fans cool to an extent. … In addition to the players battling injuries like left tackle Jake Long, guard Ray Feinga and rookie tackle Garrett Chisolm, Sparano kept five other players out of practice at his discretion for rotational purposes. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall, cornerback Will Allen, strong safety Yeremiah Bell, defensive end Randy Starks and left guard Richie Incognito all were given a breather. … Henne and Moore completed two of the prettier long passes of the day during passing drills, with Henne hitting Patrick Carter in stride from 35 yards in the end zone and Moore connecting with rookie Clyde Gates on the same pattern. … Bush’s first carry in 11-on-11s was one he’d like to forget as he ran into Kendall Langford’s forearm and went down at the line of scrimmage, but he followed that up with a nice sweep to the left, showing off his speed in turning the corner. … Davone Bess made one of his patented leaping grabs over the middle on a throw that was slightly high from Henne, and Brooks Foster had a nifty diving catch near the sideline.

Read my above post, nobody was yanked for anything. IF anything it sounds like the five players were rewarded for working hard and backups were given a chance to see what they had. No mystery here folks. Its good coaching.

I failed to connect the dots with Richie not participating and Jerry moving to LG.

No big deal, you seem like a decent person. We have a lot of really good football minds on this board. Then again and not intended for you, we have a vast array of people that cannot tell a football player from a pizza pie. :) Again, you are not in that group. IMO its down to Jerry or Feinga actually making this football team. Jerry MAY make it but he MAY not even be activated on game days. They have to find out NOW what he can do and how Murtha has healed and actually, what he can do. They cannot go by what he did a full two years ago in 2009, peoples bodies change.

Just for some reason I either didn't see Incognito not practicing, or that wasn't an obvious connection for me. So what 7 do you see being a lock? Long, Pouncey, Garner, Carey, Colombo, Incognito, Berger? If I recall correctly, didn't Tony try and have Jerry practice at RT last year? I think this "versatility" will keep Jerry around. I know Murtha played decent during the few games he played. I honestly have never seen Feinga, so I'm not going to try and give my evaluation of him. Can't wait until next Friday when we finally get to see them play.

I do not remember Jerry practice at RT last year at all. From first day of camp he was firmly planted at the RG position. I missed about 3 practices but do not remember reading anything about him at RT. I do not see him as a starter anywhere. He is talented but there is a factor no one can determine that is needed to make your mark in the NFL. Thats determination and it appears he simply does not have that. He is the type of guy that does what he needs to get by and it ends there.

As far as the lineup and again with the Grace of God barring injuries it looks like Long, Incognito, Pouncey , Carey, either Columbo or Murtha, IMO Garner and then its a big tossup between Jerry, Feinga or Berger to dress on game day. IMO, game day dressed Olineman should be the first five plus Murtha Garner and one of the other three. It seems like they probably will keep Berger as a legit center backup OR, if they sign OHara, which I doubt, then things would change, I would have to rethink that and it possibly would be Murtha, Ohara and Garner most likely actice on game day. They put 8 Olineman active on game days and the rest are either inactive or on the PS.

Brandon Marshall was stabbed right? Pretty sure he needs an extra breather here and there...

He seems fully recovered or I think they would not let him practice. From what I am told the kid has been going full blow up until now. As I said, they got to see what they have. They know what they have in Brandon already. Great chance to give this kid Gates the speedster a good look at full day of practice.

Best news i've heard since we signed JT.
Jerry isnt in threat of being cut.... We speculated this. But now it seems possible he could be better than incognito already. We can atleast hope now, that the left side of our line can be set, at some point in the not so distant future.

Listening to his presser,I think that it is more of giving players more rest, compared to jerry outplaying incognito.

During the season either right before Vernon went down or right after, he practiced at RT.

Thanks, do not remember that. Shows me they had little or even smaller faith in Murtha. Evidently he did not show well. Last year it was kind of getting like a mash unit for us after the season progressed.
