Is it just me or has anyone else'e opinion on Jerry Jones changed a little this offseason. It started when Bill was hired and Jerry let Bill talk to any of the coaching staff on the Cowboys payroll he wanted too. He allowed coaches to sign with us that he released from contracts instead of making them honor their contracts. We signed alot of FA's that he may have been more agressive in re-signing had it not been for us. Then before the draft he trades us a starting calibre TE and a possible starter at LB for a 4th round pick. I'm not sure what Akin Ayodele was drafted at but Fasano was a 2nd round pick and contributer to the Cowboys. BTW Ayodele will be on ROME IS BURNING today at 4:30 EST if anyone wants to check it out.

Yeah G, I ve been thinking the same thing. It seems he really wants Bill to succeed and has been coming off of good FO personel and Players. I have taken a liking to JJ! He is a good man:up:

Call me a cynic, but I think his ego has much more to do with that than his heart. He wants to prove that it is still HIS team and they can win without Parcells help, or his fat finger prints all over the franchise.

Remember how that split with JJ started...

It's funny all of those interviews he did back when Parcells was considering starting Romo. It sure seemed like he did everything in his power to keep Romo from getting that starting J-O-B...

I could see his ego being part of letting the coaches go but trading a 2nd round pick and a starting calibre LB for one 4th round pick just doesn't back that up IMO.

He let no coaches "out of their contract". If I'm not mistaken, the contracts of Pasqualoni, Bowles and Rodgers had expired.

I doubt Jones and Davis were huge priorities.

Letting Ireland come to the Dolphins before the draft, IMO, was the only thing that qualified as 'helping us out', but I DO agree that it is an ego thing. He wants to prove he can do it without Bill, and that Bill can take whoever he wants, and the Cowboys will be just fine.

PS Speaking of the Cowboys-Fins connection, listen to the list of Dallas UFAs for next season - Chris Canty, Marion Barber, Ken Hamlin, Terrence Newman, Terrell Owens. WOW. At least one will be a Fin. Hopefully one of the DBs. Probably not TO

i agree. no way he would have given up fasano and ayodele for a 4th round pick to anyone else. while he did need to unload some guys, i think we got a better deal than other teams w/o parcells as their coach. jones owes bill big for what the cowboys now are, and he knows that. he's not gonna bend over backwards or anything like that, but we might get a bone here and there.

Its the least he can do since the tuna built him a solid contender in big D

I must admit.... when he was dressed up like Lance Armstrong on the bike, I laughed my *** off!
I knew things were about to blow up in Dallas when I seen that. He was kind of making a mockery out of Bill IMO. That was the last straw in Bill getting out of Dallas IMO.

The situation with the coaches wasn't as much as you think. Most were done with their contracts and the timing piece was probably a return of favor for how we allowed them to take J. Garrett away from us two years ago. We could have dragged that out further and tried to keep him here and fought Dallas a lot harder than we did, but we didn't and allowed Garrett to go to Dallas without a fight at all and did so pretty much right away. Jerry, I'm sure, was just returning the favor. He also is likely primping Jason for the HC job here shortly and didn't want an issue with some of the existing coaches, so it helped us both out.

As far as players go. We got a lot of special teams players from them. Only a few starters and most of those guys had either just lost or were about to lose their starting gig in big D anyways. Jerry isn't much of a guy who worries about special teams or backup players. He wants big-play, high-profile guys, so I'm not sure he really cared much that we took so many of his lower profile guys. While it comes across as JJ helping out BP, I really think BP and Coach S. just want core guys they are comfortable with and know Dalls won't care too much about losing. I think it's more about the FO being clever about who they go after and get, then Jerry being nice. But we'll probably never really know for sure.

Bottom line, if it makes us a better team, I don't care who/where we get our players from.

I bet Terrell Owens can beat Daunte Culpepper in a stationary bike race.

Also, Jerry Jones really helps out a lot of teams; whether it's in the draft or etc. Remember, he helped out the Browns get Brady Quinn.

For a 1st round pick, no less...:d-day:
