there was a recent article talking about how good these two were becoming. Any comments on them now?

I've liked the upside of Jesse Davis from the first time I noticed him. Athletic and has strength. But he still seems to make mistakes, especially as you get deeper into the game. Sounds like he is a converted DT, and maybe needs a bit more seasoning. That said, I think he's close to a lock to make the roster, but I'd still be far more comfortable with Larsen in the lineup.

And Young has looked so bad that I'd rather keep Smith than him. I don't think Smith would last on the the practice squad, and I think he has some long term upside as at least a decent swing tackle off the bench.

Davis looked a lot better this week than last week. And honestly, I get the impression that Gase wants him as the starter right now

They both look developmental to me. Not really ready. Although week 1 it's got to be jess Davis or Anthony Steen at starting left guard.

Whoever it is if sure help them with the pivot as much as possible gameplan wise.

Steen is the definition of low upside marginal meh

On the few plays I focused on the OL Davis looked really smooth for his size and finished well. Clean up those mistakes and he could do something special between Tunsil and Pouncey.

How did Asiata look? Haven't seen the game yet.
I think he needs a year of tough, hard physical conditioning. He has some skills and shouldn't be rushed. Asiata is 341 lbs but there's a lot of fat - in comparison Tunsil is 318 lbs - stronger and leaner. Interesting to note that Steen looks like he got stronger with a year under his belt.
