Dolphins RB Jesse Chatman is down to 215 pounds after ballooning to 270 while a member of the Saints in 2005.

Chatman is 5-8. He's also the favorite to be Miami's third-string back behind Ronnie Brown and Lorenzo Booker with Ricky Williams not in the plans.

While I think Chatman was a great Back-up for LT and was doing what Michael Turner is doing now before Michael Turner.I would personally like to see what Cobb can do and I guess we will get our chance during Pre-season. Im rooting for Chatman, but im also rooting for Cobb. And it will have to be one or the other cause it looks like we will carry two FB this season.... May the best man win and im personally rooting for both.

im rooting more for Cobb because i think he is younger..i know that is bad but its not like the 3rd stringer will be getting alot of carries anyways

what about ray perkins?Cam brought him here from da bolts?

What is this," see what Cobbs can do," stuff. I've seen it a few times on this site.

We all saw what he could do last year in preseason. He is decent but he has no edge. He isn't outstanding at anything. A true NFL caliber back has to excel at some part of the game.

I know I am gonna get blasted by you Floridians on this one but that's why I am soooooo glad they dumped Minor, he wasn't very quick, or very big or very elusive, or really good at much of anything. Sorry to get off topic, I really have a feeling Chatman is gonna win the job.

The thing that will determine the third string running back will probably NOT be the way he totes the rock, but who is best on special teams. That seems to be something both Sammy and Travis excelled at.

sammy morris and travis minor never excelled except for getting fans to accept mediocrity.

hey what happen to kyle eckel??? wasnt he suppose to be our fullback of the future or something lol

We need another bigger back who can run between the tackles well and has a little breakaway speed. A guy kind of like Sammy Morris. 5'11" 230 lbs. and hopefully at least 4.5 speed. We have us a smaller, quick, fast accelerating back with Lorenzo now ... but I don't know if he's a between the tackles kind of guy. Maan. 5'10", 190 lbs? Lorenzo better be super tough like Tiki Barber or something if Ronnie goes down and he becomes the starter. These 300 lb. defensive ends that can run 4.6 40s like Mario Williams can lay on some monster hits.

I don't even like to think about it, but we need to have a good 3rd string back in case Ronnie has a season ending injury. Anything can happen in the NFL. Injuries are a part of the game. I have a feeling that Cam is a good Boy Scout and he'll have us prepared for adversity if something bad happens in the NFL jungle this year. :D

I think he's still on the roster. Some posters here may've thought he was the fb of the future but apparently Cameron didn't feel the same way. Signing Schlesinger and drafting Mauia pretty much guarantees Eckel will be released.

I'm a Floridian and I wasn't upset when we let Minor go. Maybe you meant FSU fans? Anyways, we need results, it's that simple.
