right now we're tied with jets for last wild card, but jets win the tiebreaker based on better division record. but shouldnt the tiebreaker be conference record? we're not tied for the division, we're tied for an afc wild card. division record should have nothing to do with it.

That's the way it is written.

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM

If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs

Head-to-head, if applicable.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
Coin toss.

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs

Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

Yeah, losing to Buffalo at home really sucked.

so if us and balt finish at 8-8 they get in over us right??? cause i see em being at 500 in two weeks

It should be strength of schedule first.
Oh well

Imagine where we would be if we could pull off a win against a backup QB led bills team coming off a bye at home and an inept Buccs team coming off a mini-bye.

These losses were inexcusable, and if we miss the playoffs because of them, the coaching staff should be fired. No excuses

well that sucks...who they got final 4 and where???
vs jets
vs pitt
vs minn
@ det
vs patsies
@ cincy

I could see them going 4-2 with all those home games, but they way this season has gone and how bad the ravens have been at times , 3-3 is more realistic, imo.

I could see Baltimore losing to Pitt and also losing their final 3 games. We HAVE to beat Buf, Pitt, and NYJ (x2) to make the 6th seed.

they could lose those last 3 for sure...that's better than i thought it was...

In listing the tie-breakers the posters have forgotten the rule that says that if one of the teams involved is the Dolphins then the Dolphins lose the tie-breaker. It's there in the rule book right next to the rule that says that the Patriots get 5 major phantom penalties that go their way every game. :)

There is another chapter that says, whenever the chains come out to determine if a first down was made, that the chains go against Miami at all times. If it's the other team, they get a first down. If it's Miami, the Dolphins will be short.
