New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington threw for 3,352 yards and 17 touchdowns last season.
New York Jets coach Eric Mangini decided to cut out any offseason quarterback drama and named Chad Pennington the team's starter for next season, ESPN.com reported.
"Chad did an outstanding job for us as the starter and he is the starter," Mangini told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Pennington rebounded from his second shoulder surgery last year to be named the 2006 comeback player of the year and led the Jets to the playoffs. He completed 64.5 percent of his passes last season, throwing for 3,352 yards and 17 touchdowns with 16 interceptions.
