The Jets have no running game, have a young offensive line, have a quarterback coming off two shoulder surgeries, have no downfield receiver and have a first-year head coach trying to shoehorn 4-3 defensive personnel into a 3-4 scheme.

Yes, this is a bad team. A very bad team. Another top-five draft pick seems all but assured, and the No. 1 overall pick is a very real possibility. Other things gleamed by our scouts on their visit at Jets camp: It's a matter of when, not if, the team turns to rookie QB Kellen Clemens; Cedric Houston should be given the running back job; and QB Patrick Ramsey, WR Justin McCareins and C Trey Teague are all trade bait.

:sidelol: Life is good

The downside of watching them struggle this year is that they could get someone like Brady Quinn for next year. But that's another season in and of itself. :)

well that article sure cheared my up.

no matte rhow bad my team is doing, i can just look at the jets and feel good again.

These are the same people who said that the Dolphins would go 5-11 last year while the Jets were to go to the playoffs.

The point is, until the season starts and games are played, everything is up in the air.

Who would have thought a brand new coach with two scrub QBs could take a team from 4-12 to 9-7 in a year?

Which team am I talking about?

I have to agree with BZ, I don't think the Jets are going to be as bad as everybody thinks. Before you get a woody BZ, they aren't going to be that good either.

I think this is a very important year for the Jets. This year is going to be about building a foundation, rather than winning the AFC East. They solidified their oline with a very strong draft and Clemens is a very good young QB. In my opinion he was the second best in the draft behind Cutler.

If the rookies play up to their potential and Penny can come back and play like he is capable, the Jets could be looking at a 6-8 win season. Never count out the Jets, they always play a tough game against us. Yes they do have some serious mental lapses at times (*cough*fake spike*cough*) but they always show up to play. And I think Mangini will see to it that they play tough the whole season. Remember, BB and Saban both have groomed the Pats coaches, I'm not 100% sure that Mangini was one of them, but how could you go wrong with that type of teaching?

I'd rather take Frerotte over Losman/Holcomb/Nall. Thats just me

And about the article, it feels good knowing some other team is getting trashed on instead of us. We were so good for a lot of years that when we went 4-12, it was one of the biggest shocks in sports.

Now its your turn to suffer

4-12 was the suffering.

And BTW, the rest of the NFL media ALWAYS shine down on the Dolphins.

Maybe Rich Kotitte (sp?) will return to save the franchise. My old boss at that time was a Jets Fan and if I remember correctly the Jets went 3-29 or some such over Kotitte's tenure. My boss hated seeing my face on Monday mornings.:D

The Dolphins did not have as many holes as the Jets thoughThe Dolphins still had a good core of players. And the holes that we did have we helped clear up, such as the O-line and the edition of Hudson Houck.

Also the running back position was improved with Ronnie and the return of Ricky.

Our Defense was also under great change.. but again Saban put this team in a great position to improve. The DL needed help... so Saban brings in experienced productive vets in such as Holliday, Carter and Traylor.

We needed a back-up to Seau so we bring in Spragan. We needed a WLB so we drafted Channing Crowder and he is turning out great.

Granted, Saban couldnt fix everything. The O-line still needed to gel, the QB position was average, and the defensive backfield needed help.

My point is looking at your team and looking at the Dolphins going into 2005, the Dolphins were lightyears ahead of this years Jets. The media and other fans who dont follow the Dolphins refused to see what was taking place in South Florida.

Everyone knows this is a rebuilding year for us.

Not me.

You rebuild in the offseason with trades, free agency and the draft. The theory that you can take years to rebuild a team are gone. You have to be competitive every year becuase any year you could be that team that goes to the playoffs and wins out on the road to the Super Bowl.

Wow BZ, I would have to say this team was 9-7 because of the easy schedule we played at the end of last year...

Now where have I heard that before...
