I took notice of this guy last year, but this year he seems to be a shutdown corner. He shut down Andre Johnson in the first week and yesterday he shut down Randy Moss. I am not sure if we need a better game plan against this guy or if the fact that we really don't have a #1 receiver will actually help us out. Any thoughts?

Hopefully our team isn't gameplanning for Revis, we have big games coming up against Indy and SD. If we score TDs on Cromartie and the Chargers D, we will be fine against the Jets. One game at a time.

My thoughts are this....let's take care of this week before we start looking ahead!

He is definately turning into a top notch corner. Hate to admit it, but I'm very jealous of the Jets right now. Looks like they have a positive outlook for years and years to come.

We have a good defense and possibly a developing shutdown corner in Sean Smith. Need a young 3-4 NT. Need a inside linebacker. But on defense, that's all we really need.

As far as offense goes, we have not looked good. However, it's been only 1 game. Our 150 million dollar offensive line has looked anything but impressive. Again though, Only 1 game... After this year the quarterback position is once again an issue, especially if Chad Henne does not live up to expectations. Hopefully everything will fall into place, but offensively we look doomed.

I agree that we need to look at the upcoming games, but at the same time, we play against him twice every year.

You're forgetting something: Cromartie sucks

Cromartie played all of last season with a broken hip and still managed to get a couple of INTs. In '07 he had an All-Pro year and had two INTs in the Pro-Bowl. Yeah, he does well against Peyton, but thats not the only QB. In the AFC Championship game he held Moss to 18 yards and had an INT on Brady.

When you can pressure the QB.. you can make CBs look good.

I like our Smith and Davis. They're going to be shut down corners for us.

Moss wasnt impressed, said Revis had help all day. Ouch. Someone is a sore loser.

Even at this young stage of the season I worry about the Jets. . they are looking like they are on fire. . and I think they could really challenge for the East this year. . man that is a painful thought. .

You're forgetting something: Cromartie sucks and only shows up when Peyton Manning is the opposing quarterback

^ What he said. Cromartie gets beat a lot but he makes flashy plays and puts up a high INT total so gets gets way more pub than he deserves. See Ty Law with the Jets in 2005. There's a reason why a guy like Nnamdi Asomugha was overlooked early in his career, it's because QBs don't test him so he tends to have a quiet day. Revis is in that same boat right now.

Randy Moss' day was over as soon as Revis caught that pick because Brady didn't really attack Revis' side a whole lot after that. It's good when you can have 1 guy shut down a team's biggset weapon. Frees up the D to get more creative and that's what happened yesterday.

BTW, I love this quote by Revis during his post game press conference.

On covering Moss any differently today…
I just covered him. If he went to the bathroom, I went too. I covered him anyway I could. When he went to the sidelines, when our offense was on (the field), and he sat down — I sat right across from him wherever he was sitting on the bench.

Revis is great, I love him. You could tell from his rookie season that he was something special. Last season he was blanketing guys when we had no pass rush. This season we get pressure on the QB.

BTW-Cromartie was one of the most overrated players in the league, he is a great athlete and can make nice INTs. But hes not a shutdown CB, I actually think Jammer covers guys better.

revis isn't good - he's fugging great. he's going to be a shutdown corner in this league for years to come. not happy about it.
