In Specter's news conference, two links to the Jets emerged:
• He said Walsh told him he suspected the Jets of illegally videotaping during a game. Walsh said he stood next to the Jets' video person during a game, which means it happened in 2000 or 2001 or 2002 - the years he taped for the Patriots.
Al Groh coached the Jets in 2000, followed by
Herm Edwards from 2001 to 2005.
"He mentioned a Jets game," Specter said of Walsh. "The guy next to him seemed to be doing the same thing he was doing, but he didn't get too high and mighty about it since he was doing the same thing."
• Specter said Walsh told him that he was succeeded as the Patriots' video man by
Steve Scarnecchia, who now serves in the same capacity with the Jets. He said Scarnecchia, the son of Patriots offensive line coach
Dante Scarnecchia, illegally taped teams from 2002 to 2004.
