The Jets are 2-9 and few people — outside of some cynical Dolphins fans who are just expecting a collapse because of recent history — are giving the much of a chance Monday night against Miami.
But Jets coach Rex Ryan, speaking to Dolphins media today, assured that his team won’t be a pushover.
“Clearly this has not been to our expectations whatsoever, not even close,” Ryan said. “Anytime you go through the type of year we’re having it’s tough. But don’t expect to see a typical two-win team. Our team has a lot of pride, and we’ll play with great effort. They’re going to get our best shot without question.”

Ryan said the Jets can pull off Monday night’s game, but not because they’re facing the hated Dolphins.
The Jets are seventh-best in the league in yards allowed and fifth in rushing. They’re the NFL’s worst passing team.
“This is about the type of men I have in our locker room,” Ryan said. “It wouldn’t matter if we were playing the Miami Hurricanes, we would have the same deal. It’s not personal. Obviously, the Dolphins and Jets has been a strong rivalry for years. Is there more to it? I’m not sure. Even though we’ve been eliminated from the playoffs, that’s not why we play the game anyway.”

The Jets are a bad team, but if we look past them we will lose. This is a heated rivalry game and you almost always throw the records out the window in these situations. Please, please Joe Philbin, don't take the Jets lightly.

That buffoon should just shut the **** up already and walk the plank. A stronger argument can be made that we're more of an 8-3 or even 9-2 team than a "typical" 6 win one than they are anything other than what they are.

I'm suprised with the Jets this year. I thought they we're a 3 win team last year, but a lot of bad calls and luck went their way. I find it amazing that they can add play makers to last years team and tank like they have. This is a good example of what they should expect over the next several years. Haveing cap space and brining in free agents doesnt always work...they have to fit. You build thru the draft!

We shut down their running game Monday and make Geno beat us...

Yeah I agree with this sentiment, but again, we lost to the Jets with the playoffs on the line at home last year and their roster isn't all that much worse now than it was week 17 of last year. We can not take this game lightly... The next 5 weeks starting with next Monday night will tell me everything I need to know about Joe Philbin.

They should fire that guy right now and bring back Rich Kotite :chuckle:

If anyone thinks the Jets aren't going to give us all they've got they're wrong.

Fortunately for us all they've got is about 3 field goals and a coverage sack.

Rex is still allowed to give press conferences?

I hope we do but I'm not confident. If we do we can make the game interesting, if not it's another blowout

Want it to be a close game too. Geno Smith starting for them BTW in place of injured Michael Vick.

It's weird...I for some reason, am much more nervous about this game than I was about Buffalo or even the Broncos.....hope our team is pumped and playing like their playoff lives are on the line.....because they are.

Yeah Rex. Could have been 9-2 with a play here and there and and a couple of better calls from the refs.

For crying out loud your own fans are starting Tannehill in their fantasy teams next weekend. :sidelol:

Hahahaha he only good thing about that game is Im gonna start Ryan Tannehill to win me my fantasy league
You bet your ass I'll be starting Tannehill in my one fantasy team next week
I fully expect to go to him to clinch my first round bye on Monday night
I will also be starting Tannehill. I'm expecting a big game from him. Only thing that upsets me is that the Dolphins play the Jets again on Week 17 after the fantasy season is over.

They are even taking our kicker and defense.
I'm kind of on the page of the Fish will beat the living hell out of us...just BECAUSE it's on Monday night and nationally televised. LOL!!!!

I've already secured the Fins kicker and I've got the Defense if it clears waivers...oh yeah...the Dolphins are going to help my fantasy chances all day long!
