i was reading somewhere thats the jets new coach is exactly like bill billicheck, even more so than nick saban.hes been with the jets for a short amount of time n i been hearin hes done great things already, jus look at their draft.

could this guy rebuild the jets this year and make them contenders?

all i know is that the thought of a next bill is scarin me alil and i hope the guy is mostly hype.

afc east with bill and 2 of his proteges, thats will b exciting to watch.

Yeah Mangini is the next of a long line of Belichick disciples and he will share the same principles as him and Saban which should make this division harder to win as time progresses.

A Pats loving friend of mine said that Mangini is the real force behind the defence even though Crennel was the DC at the time and he was happy for Romeo to take up a HC spot elsewhere providing Mangini became the Pats new DC. He was overjoyed when that happened but gutted when the Jets picked him up this offseason.

As you have already seen this offseason, he has made some good pickups and he will have those damn Jets on the road to recovery even though they should struggle again this season.

Mangini is good and all, but that is a big time reach. IMHO, Saban has a bigger resume to be a HC than a wide eyed 30-something 1-year DC.

That said, he could be great, just saying the above statement is a stretch.

Yes. That is why he was hired.

He is VERY intense. All action no talk. Some say the Anti-Herm.

The proof, though, is in the pudding and the pudding starts this year.

I think this is a 9-7 team. In the new NFL you rebuild over the summer not over a few years.

saban is much more of a complete coach than eric mangini, saban is very experienced and has accomplished much more that eric mangini....the hiring of mangini is a risky one, he was only the D-coordinator for one year and still has a lot to prove especially how he will handle the qb situation which will begin to errupt some time shortly. It has also been said that nick was bills right hand mand before he joined the dolphins and that bill would always turn to nick for advice, nick also has proved in his first year as the dolphins head coach that he wont tolerate crap and he led the dolphins to a very respectable record at 9-7 which was a team that was 4-12 a year ago....plus with the major offseason additions and the hiring of two former head coaches also help nick get the job done. A lot of people have to understand what happened with the dolphins last year, turning around so quickly, doesnt happen to every team in the nfl that enters rebuilding mode. For example mike nolan the head coach for the 49ers is a great coach that showed it in his first year as the head coach but the team still struggled and went 4-12, its whats called rebuilding slow signs of improvement and better coaching......realisticaly the jets as of right now are looking as a 5 or 6 win team, anything more than 6 wins has to been considered outstanding for a first year head coach at manginis experience and for the players that are on that roster now

well considering that that is a true statement since nick and bill are very good friends and talked a lot of football im missing the funny part? is it the eric "god" mangini part? id certainly hope so

Neither of them called each other asking for advice. The only advice that Belichick would ask of Saban was his opinion on a prospective LSU player that the Pats were looking at pre draft.

well maybe because saban is a good coach¿ and you know that im not deffending eric mangini at all because i dont think he is a "God" or anything even close to that, im a dolphins fan not a jets fan....i never said or am not assuming for that matter that during the regular season bellichick would call nick asking for his help and how he should play a certain team but like you said they did work together in the offseasons and did help each other plan out different deffensive schemes...so in other words you are exactly saying what i said

I was clarifing your statement about Belichick asking Saban for advice.

I think NYJ fans are going to be disappointed with the new HC especially when they find out he can't walk on water. He had one season a DC and the rumor running around patriots nation was he was too quiet. Some of the players said it was hard to tell he had changed from a "D" backs coach to DC. Also I read an article that said about mid season Belichick finally got angry with Eric's Vanilla "D" calls and point blank told him to let the dogs out on "D". That is when NE did a turn around last season. I personally don't think Mangini could hold Romeo Crennel's jock when it came to calling the defense and for sure Crennel was much better at patchworking the "D" when the injury bug bit. Mangini may someday become a good headcoach but I see jets fans running him out of town long before that ever happens.

yes i know but its not like i ever said that he would ask for advice during the regular season or anything in my original post BTW its all good, main point that they worked together on some football decisions and saban is much more of a billichick type of coach than eric mangini

Not many young coaches are successful....Gruden comes to mind...but the Jets are going to struggle until they can get their QB situation straightened out.....it will also take a while for their O-line to gel although they made some nice draft picks.
