It is posted on www.rotoworld.com that he will miss week 1 vs the Texans. Shaun Ellis was the sack leader of the team in 2008.
Add to this Calvin Pace and his suspension and its a big blow to the Jets defense. It appears the Jets are in big trouble for week 1. thoughts?

would rather not play them week one. we wouldn't hear the end of why we kicked their butts. We can man handle them when they are 100%. ;)

It does not matter if they do not play us. They are more likely to lose and start off 0-1. It would be similar to us losing Joey Porter, our 2008 sack leader. It makes a big difference doesn't it?

The Texans are going to light the Jests up! With no pass rush, Andre Johnson is going to end up with a 200 yard, 3 touchdown game.

Well it hurts that we are without 2 of our best pass rushers for the first game, Andre Johnson still has to face Darrelle Revis who has never had a consistent pass rush and still has shut down pretty much every guy he covers.

Its a good thing that Vernon Gholston has been doing good in training camp, and Bryan Thomas too. We're going to need them. Our secondary is vastly improved though and is filled with guys that can cover.
Rex Ryan is creative on defense and will put together a scheme to generate pressure.

Good start for Ryan...all talk gets you trouble. Didnt he learn from his daddy at all? Walk softly and carry that huge stick you keep talkin about you numbskull.

If the Jets cant get to Schaub, then Johnson will have a field day. Revis is very good, but it does'nt matter how good a CB is, if their is no pressure on the QB, a receiver will get open,no matter how good the coverage is.

I think you under-rate just how good Andre Johnson actually is.

Who says we aren't going to get pressure on Schaub still? We have other guys that can step up, we still have Kris Jenkins in the middle to make it hard on Schaub to step into the pocket. We'll probably blitz Bart Scott and David Harris more, and if Vernon Gholston really is as good as I'm hearing hes been in camp so far, we'll have a pass rush from him.

Well, Andre Johnson > Darrele Revis with or without pass rush. Without Pace and Ellis, Jets are going to have alot of trouble rushing the passer. Alot. I would expect Johnson to have a field day either way, but this certainly doesn't help the Jets cause at all.

Looks to me like that girl Karma has surfaced in the Meadowlands, and as they say, Karma's a *****.

Yea because the fins have dominated the Jets so often recently.

I love how they get their first win against the Jets in YEARS and now some of you just think the fins own the Jets. Let's be real here.

I don't understand why they didn't do this last season. It's still not set in stone that he'll be suspended week 1, but it looks like he will be.

All talk gets you trouble? the suspensions resulted from things that happened LAST year.

Ellis is not a big pass rusher anymore but he is still a valuable member of the D and losing him and Pace in Week 1 is a huge blow. That game was going to be tough before the suspensions but now it is going to be really tough- like Miami trying to win a playoff game tough:d-day:

The good news is rex is a schemer and we weren't relying on 1-2 guys to pressure the QB so we'll see what happens.

Both are elite at their positions. Revis vs. Johnson is a great matchup.

Wouldn't go as far as calling Revis elite, but he is pretty damn good. But Johnson is the 2nd best reciever in the game, and I expect him to have a field day against everybody (He better, he's on 2 of my fantasy teams :d-day:). And losing 2 pass rushers is certainly not good. Not going to matter how great your corners are if the QB has all day to throw, the revceivers will get open. Now, not saying the Jet's won't get any pressure, but I'm of the impression they won't get enough.

Revis is elite but Johnson may very well be the best WR in the game, it will be a tough matchup for him and it doesn't help losing Ellis and Pace for that game. It was going to be a tough game to begin w/ and now it's much harder. 0-1 is looking likely.
