Jets fans' pre season predictions

One of those guys was close with the first game.
Week 1 @ Miami - W - Defense holds on to a 4 point lead with a Chad INT in the final 2
Unfortunately for them all of them picked the Jets in the final game.

Those Jests on here, in August, going on about how Penny's damaged and Favre's the Messiah have been equally as prescient. If anyone cares to go retrospect, reliving this thread is a humorously ironic stroll down memory lane and reminder never to take Jets fans too seriously.

As far as several specific, usually decent Jest homer posters who poo pooed this graphic.. it's my hope that in the future, they will now know better than to contradict him when Newstradamus speaks!!! Now Bretta's officially sucked in 3 out of the last 4 seasons, held hostage and destroyed 2 teams.

gotta love this....man it feels good to be afc east champs

There were people rolling on the floor with the Favre acquisition on another message board I visited. The feeling definitely wasn't unanimous that it was a good acquisition. I was actually quite surprised that the team started 8-3, as I expected Favre to struggle. He did, but it took longer than I expected.

Then again, he was having bad games at the beginning of the year too. People tended to forget them after his 6 TDs against one of the lousiest defenses in the league.

Week 1 @ Miami - WIN
Week 2 vs. New England - LOSS
Week 3 @ San Diego - WIN
(I'm going to this game and I've never seen the jets lose)

Week 4 vs. Arizona - WIN
Week 5 - BYE
Week 6 vs. Cincinnati - LOSS
(OCHO CINCO is going to run wild)
Week 7 @ Oakland - WIN
(Is it possible to lose to the Raiders?)
Week 8 vs. Kansas City - WIN
Week 9 @ Buffalo - LOSS
(Buffalo is a pretty solid team this year, but we end up with a better record)
Week 10 vs. St. Louis - WIN
Week 11 @ New England - WIN
(we at least take one from the pats either this one or the first one)
Week 12 @ Tennessee - WIN
Week 13 vs. Denver - WIN
Week 14 @ San Fransisco - WIN
(I'll probably go to this game too so there's no way we lose)

Week 15 vs. Buffalo - WIN
Week 16 @ Seattle - WIN
(close game though)
Week 17 vs. Miami - WIN
(Also, going to this game so automatic win)

Final Record: 13-3

I thought I was pretty realistic.

Dude..... Last year when you guys went 1-15 so many of you predicted that you would go to the playoffs..... Don't talk smack on something this dumb. Fans always have high expectations at the start of the season, you guys probably predicted to sweep the Jets the last two years and the Jets swept you guys.

Dont worry Jets fans, the media is already pushing for Favre to come back. He will return to NY and deystroy anpther head coach for you guys.

I wonder how long Tannebaum is going to escape the responsibility of assembling that team. In case you guys aint figured it out yet, he has already cost you Cowher. The Jets fans need to start demanding his head. The fact is that he is the one responsible for bringing in all that high priced talent and trying to buy you a title.

I know you guys are disappointed with the way this season turned out for. I dont blame you nor am I am going to gloat about it. It is tough to be a fan when your team has that bad of a meltdown.

Who is the culprit and how do you fix it I think are the two big questions you guys should be asking.

I think your owner had fair intentions but just trusted the wrong people, (trust me Dolfans can relate to that one, we have been living with WH's bad choices for a decade). Hess has to gild you guys a stadium. It is sooooo long overdue it is ridiclous. The Giants have always belonged to Jersey and the Jets to NY. Hess needs a finacial commitment from their fans to build it, and he made a finacial jesture back by not only spending his entire cap but borrowing as much as he could from future cap space. He really tried to buys you guys a championship team and he did it one season after the Patriots went 16-0 in our division. That is bold and guttsy. My hat is off to the guy for his grit and dedication.

Tannenbaum was the one charged to spend whatever it takes to assemble you guys a winning team. His decissions were the ones that cost you more then anything. He blew it with Gholston. Favre was a very risky decission especially considering Clemens isnt ready and it forced you to release Pennington outright (hey at least you should see a good comensary pick from that though, it's just too bad that you wont have any money to sighn anyone) I really cant fathom how your GM did not get fired.

Manginni the least responsible for this season and is the scape goat. The biggest critizim I got of him is that he did not end Favre's consecutive starts record and pull the guy. Just because he is tough enough to play injured does not mean it was in the teams best intrestr to play him. He should of been benched in week 9 or 10 or whenever it was that he hurt his shoulder. They should of been rehabing it and resting it up to come back later in the season or into the post season. That is wht he was brought in. It wasnt for him to extend his rediclous record. If Mangini would of done that you might of had a healthier Favre facing us and you might be in the playoffs now. Again though I question how much pressure from above was coming down on him to play the guy.

Now you got rid of a good head coach and kept your crummy GM. He is going to continue to protect his own job by pressuring your new HC to play the guys even if they are not performing well. What he needs to do is man up that this experiment failed and have a firesale. Sell these guys off for as much as you can and make some cap space and start rebuilding your team around your new coach. I don't see your GM doing this. If Favre returns and tavareus Jackson looks bad today. They need to get on the horn and trade him to Minnesota and get their draft pick back if the deal with Greenbay allows them to do that.

That is my own personal assement of what plauges the Jets

Leon Hess has been dead almost 10 years.

tannenbaum has done a good job as GM, the owenr looking to sell higher $ PSLs made him get Favre and he copst us Cowher by being out of the Country when Cowher wanted to talk to him.

We lost a good HC, we still have a good GM and a talented team. If we get better QB play we'll be alot better.
