Jets| B. Schottenheimer hired as offensive coordinator
Mon, 30 Jan 2006 12:21:38 -0800

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the New York Jets have hired San Diego Chargers quarterbacks coach Brian Schottenheimer as the team's offensive coordinator.

Kind of suprising that Scottenheimer let his son go to another team.

Wasn't Brian Schottenheimer a special teams guy until a couple of years ago?

I don't think so, this is what I found.

2002-05 - Quarterbacks, San Diego Chargers
2001 - Quarterbacks, Washington Redskins
2000 - Wide Receivers, Syracuse University
1999 - Tight Ends, University of Southern California
1998 - Offensive Assistant-Quality Control, Kansas City Chiefs
1997 - Offensive Assistant, St. Louis Rams

This guy has no experience.......another bad hire for the Jets. Its even worse cause he is a Schottenheimer.

looool Jets what a waste that team is they will share the basement with the jills for the next 4 years

No, I think they will share it with the Dolphins. Nick Saban will be the biggest let down in Dolphin history. Get all your hopes up, and just crush them. I'll be right there to pour salt on your wounds.

Sounds like sour grapes from a Jill's fan....time for a reality check too.

Just so you know he is credited w/ turning Brees carer around, so much so that Drew brought him to the PB in hawaii last year as his guest for all the work he did to help him.

Its one thing to know how to coach a QB

Its another thing to draw up the plays, call them at the right time, and have them work in game sitautions

LT and Antonio Gates had nothing to do with Drew's success either I bet....just defending your new OC I understand...but when your alone do you really feel that confident

personally it sounds like Mangini is scraping the barrell... He cant even get his own defensive staff, so he keeps whos there. Then he cant keep his OC, so they let him go and sign a guy who has a problem with staying on a team for more than a year?... The buzz around the league is that coaches are avoiding the JETS like the plague...

you think he has no clue how to run an offense? We just hired him for fun? The man has been around coaching his whole life and I am sure he can run an offense or we wouldn't have hired him.

he never wanted Dinger, that was a move by the Jets so he couldn't wriggle out of his contract. The fatc that he has interviewed a bunch of potential OCs and DCs is a bad thing? Bob Sutton who is going to be our DC was brought in here when parcells was here and he's done a great job w/ the LB's- that's a bad hire? Stop believeing all the nonsense you read.

32 year old!!

I like the movement the organization is changing with youth and fresh blood...I find it funny though that he's younger than Martin and Mawae
