Is the Bill Parcells line “You are what your record says you are” the best way to describe this Jets (4-4) team?
Rex Ryan and the Jets may not think so, but it’s probably better for them to spend time thinking about their .500 record for the next two weeks — they have a bye in Week 9 — than it is to dwell on how they let another game slip through their hands Sunday against Miami. Should the Jets be 5-3 or 6-2? Possibly. But unless you are Mike Westhoff, reliving Ted Ginn’s two kickoff returns for touchdowns isn’t going to achieve anything. Here is the bottom line for the Jets with the season at its midpoint:
1) They are probably not as good as the 3-0 record they started with after wins against Houston, New England and Tennessee.
2) They are probably not as bad as their 1-4 record since.
