On the absence of a huge game and with huge implications the Jets decide to take Christmas off. Makes me appreciate Sparano more, but what another bone head move by Mangina. If I was part of the fanbase I would want this guys head. Anyways I like the toughness of our Dolphins and how they are all business they praticed Christmas day and toughed it up. The Jets are a joke.

The Jets returned to the practice field after taking Christmas Day off but made no changes to their injury report. Wide receiver Laveranues Coles (thigh), offensive tackle Wayne Hunter (shoulder) and linebacker Bryan Thomas (shoulder) were again limited in practice. Linebacker Eric Barton (knee), wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder), linebacker David Harris (groin) and nose tackle Kris Jenkins (hip) participated in a full practice. Coles, Hunter and Thomas are questionable and Barton, Cotchery, Harris and Jenkins are listed as probable.

That's ok, they are about to get the whole month of January off too!

I think deep down the Jets know they are done....Besides having to beat the Phins, they know they need Barfolo to beat the Pats (nor very likely) or have the Jags beat the Ravens. They don't have total control over their destiny the way the Phins do. I am not saying they will throw it in, but they have to be discouraged with the way they have played since their win over the Titans. They look a totally different team. I doubt a Christmas Day practice would help them much now. I am not trying to sound overconfident, but the Jets cannot be feeling good about their chances.

The fanbase already wants Mangini's head. Your a little late to the dance as far as that goes.

There is nothing wrong with taking a day off. When your struggling sometimes it's good to get away from the game for a day and spend time doing other things.

I will take an extra day of preperation

I agree. Taking the day off won't matter that much. Miami's got to have a travel day in there as well; pretty much cancels each other out in my eyes.

My former roommate in college was a Jets fan (don't ask how we got paired up) and he's hated Mangini since he was hired. What do you feel like about Tannenbaum - because I've seen a lot of Jets fans clamor for Cowher, but I just can't picture it since Cowher would want full control over personnel. Is Tannenbaum on the hot seat as well?

I understand why you are here. I checked out the jets boards. Intelligent conversation about football is what you are after.

It has nothing to do with them thinking they are done or taking their foot off the gas pedal. Mangini decided last week the team would have off to have time with family. This was a HUGE story in New York and had many Jets fans pissed. Not because they weren't practicing on Christmas, but because Mangini came out and openly said they also prepared for the Dolphins during the Seattle week to allow for the time off. This came out after the loss, so talk radio had a good time with it...

According to Mangini this week (Heard a sound bite of him on WFAN NY), the reason they were able to take xmas day off was because late in the week last week they actually started preparing for the phins. Oooops! How could Jests fans not want his head? He is terrible.
