My post is regarding Green bay's performance (defensive) so far in the season. GB is 0-4 and i don't blame Jim Bates as the reason for it, but they haven't proved anything defensively so far.

Here are the points against GB so far this season:

Detroit : 17
Cleveland : 26
Tampa Bay : 17
Carolina : 32

They could not even stop not so great offensive teams from scoring over double digits.. I think Jim Bates was overrated and predictable. I think the phins did benefit by releasing him than hiring him as their Coach.

This topic is not directly related to Dolphins, but does has a reference to our ex defensive coordinator and therefore i am posting the thread in Miami Dolphins.. Hope the mod does not move the thread elsewhere..

Are all of those offensive points against GB's defense? A small percentage of the failure rests on the coach, the rest goes on the players. That's my opinion though.

they lost alot of players and farve is basically done what more do you expect?

I think he will do a decent job, however he is to predictable for my taste.

while i certainly don't believe Brett Favre is "done"... i will agree the Packers are seriously lacking in defensive personnel... Bates can't make chicken soup with chicken feathers.... they're really bad on D... those 2nd year CBs they drafted don't look like they "have it"... 1 D-lineman... just bad all around...

I have to agree, their defensive line is a joke. Their LB's are some of the worst in football, and their secondary is so bad it's hard to watch. Jim Bates would do better turning water into wine than getting this defense anywhere remotely close to respectable. Give him time, and he'll find a way to bring in players and make it better, but i for one didn't expect Bates to go in through 4 games and fix an awful defense.

And you guys are right, the defense is not ALL the problems for the Packers. Nor is Brett Favre, who people consistently call "done" yet he still plays quite well, almost great if he wouldn't make passes into great coverage which get picked off all the time. These recievers dont get open too well for him, Ahman Green is running well, the line isn't blocking, the coaching is awful. The Packers have many problems, not just the defense.

They can't run the ball, nor can they keep Brett clean.

On the D side they can't stop the run.

Piss poor drafting is the main reason.
