Jim Bates was considered for the Colts HC Position

Just thought I'd share the information seeing as how many people in here seem to believe Bates has never been considered for any HC positions.

Indianapolis: The Colts hired Dungy to a five-year deal worth a little under $13 million. Colts general manager Bill Polian interviewed Cottrell on Saturday at the Meadowlands Sheraton in New Jersey. Cottrell, according to Polian, was only passed over for Dungy because the latter has had previous NFL head coaching experience. One Colts official last week told Dolphins defensive coordinator Jim Bates that they would like to interview him, but they hired Dungy before that became necessary. Bates had been conducting personnel research for the meeting.
