Looking back on Saturday night's Miami Dolphins preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers, I took a lot out of it.

I saw a much cleaner, crisper game. I saw a game that was fun to watch, as opposed to that dreadful performance in the exhibition opener.

Let's start on the offensive side of the football. The Dolphins wanted to run the ball, and they did. They had 141 yards rushing and they did it with all three quarterbacks and all four running backs.

That guy that really stood out was Lex Hilliard. He is a big guy with a great body that has a good feel for the game. We saw the giddy-up from him. It was all him on that touchdown run, I feel that Lex Hilliard is a lock to make this team. Everyone is doing the numbers on the running backs and saying there is not a spot for him. Well, I've got news for you -- Bill Parcells and the crew do not let good football players go.

That's true, but the Jets didn't see him as a future option and financially couldn't carry both him and Favre. They were actually kind of forced to get rid of Pennington after the Favre trade.
I do believe that some of brets money is still owed (his pay was spread over a period of time) and he'll recieve more this year from the yets. I may be wrong but I thought I heard the jets still owe and even the vikes will be paying him after he leaves the team. If I'm wrong please say so.:ponder:

When Lex dominates against first teamers............

I'm guessing trade bait.

Hilliard can be kept on the roster as a speacial teamer. Miami's broadcasters were saying how good of a speacial teamer he is and as I watched the game I saw him on several speacial team plays. So I would agree and say he makes the team by speacial teams alone.

Special teams and wildcat for this season....the guy has some serious speed and vision. Could even kick return, and then in 1 or 2 seasons, since Ronnie and Ricky could leave, he could be our starter/backup

Hilliard was a beast! He has a little bit of Larry Czonka in him. That guy needs to just get comfortable, and he is gonna enjoy making people PAY!

i just read where he may return some kickoffs this week...if he is a top contributer on special teams, he may stick. who knows

He's not as big, but his running style is like Brandon Jacob's. Downhill.

I had a Bear's fan who watched the Dolphin's replay of Saturdays game tell me that yesterday. I was impressed with the comparison and even more impressed that other fans noticed.
