JIM MANDICH's take on the selection of Qb Pat White

Look, I hope this whole Pat White thing works out and he becomes a dynamic point guard in the wild-cat. However, I would have much rather built around Henne or the defense of the future with that pick instead of throwing this whole new wild card into the mix.
 
I like Maddog, but his football IQ I question. It is nice that Mandich gives his input, but yesterday I realized how little Mandich truly knows what really is going on in Miami. Mandich said he doubted we would sign JT because the Fins want guys like Merling, Langford, Dotson and Mcdaniel to perform. Mandich if Miami would sign JT he would be brought in to play OLB opposite to Porter not DE.
 
I don't think there is a chance in hell that they sign JT. They just cut John Beck despite the fact that he did everything he could to stay on board.

I like the White pick, he was named MVP of 4 bowl games. he is the first guy to have that honour. He is a WINNING football player, what position he ends up playing isn't as important as that. Hines Ward and that guy over at the Redskins were both college QB's. I see him in that mold of player, but if he could also play QB that is only a plus.

I remember reading that he was the most impressive QB at the combine at the time.

Parcells & Billichek were both watching out for him, that should tell you something.

If Greg Ellis is released I think there is better chance he signs then JT. He is two years yonger and is coming of an 8 sack season.

At the right price, bringing in JT can be huge for our defense and younger players. I like the White pick too, interesting to see how he adjusts to the speed of the game.
 
Mandich is a bit of a homer for sure. He likes to hype all the happy choices... but what do you expect.. the guy works the Dolphin radio broadcasts...

Who cares. As long as it keeps moving the chains getting us first downs, keeping the defense off the field, and wins us games.

Pretty simple.
