Moon Runner / The 3 AM Crew
I don't know if you younger guys remember Jim Marshall. He was the guy who ran the wrong way after recovering a fumble against the 49ers...he ended up scoring a safety for them.
So anyway, old senile Jim thinks the 72 Dolphins would not even get a first down against this year's Patriots. Sounds like this Old Dope is still bitter about the way we took care of him and his Vikings in the SB VIII (24-7). :sidelol:
Here's what the Old Dope had to say:

Ex-Viking Jim Marshall: '72 Dolphins Wouldn't Get a First Down Against the Patriots'
The debate about how the undefeated 2007 Patriots stack up against the undefeated 1972 Dolphins runs largely along generational lines, as the people voting for the Dolphins as the superior team are the people who were alive to see them.
However, one player who not only saw the '72 Dolphins but also played against them says it's not even close: These Patriots would kill those Dolphins.
Former Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall, who signed autographs Wednesday night to raise money for the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, said there's no comparison between the two teams.
"The '72 Dolphins wouldn't get a first down against the Patriots," Marshall said. When I asked him if he was sure the Dolphins wouldn't have any chance against the Patriots, he put his thumb and forefinger half an inch apart and said, "Not even a small one."
Marshall, who never missed a game from 1960 to 1979, said that in his view, the Steelers of the 1970s were a better team than the Dolphins of the 1970s. He also said that he hopes Packers quarterback Brett Favre plays the 30 more games in a row he needs to pass Marshall's streak of 282 consecutive starts.
"I hope Favre passes me," Marshall said. "I have so much respect for him."
