From CBS Miami - Nantz: Ryan Tannehill Among the NFL’s ‘Upper Echelon’ QBs

“I think the contract is something that’s really good and the fact that the franchise is committed to him,” CBS NFL announcer Jim Nantz said on the Joe Rose Show. “I’ve seen enough games of Ryan Tannehill to know that he definitely can throw the football up there with the upper echelon of the NFL. Believe me, when you’re sitting with the type of view that you and I have on a Sunday when you watch guys throw it. There are a lot of teams that don’t have a quarterback anywhere as close to being as good as Ryan Tannehill. You can see it, see the way he operates. You kind of just have to eyeball it in person."

Good stuff, and this refers to what Ryan has already done, not what we expect him to do this year, which is even more.

edit: if a mod could fix my typo in the title, that would be swell. Thanks

But what about YPA?!? :chuckle:

Glad to see people are finally taking notice. They'd be fools to overlook him anymore.

RT gets better every single year... His ceiling hasn't been hit yet.

There have been some on here say that he doesn't pass the "eyeball test". Can't remember the exact poster that said that but he knows who he is. Some have even compared him to Chad Henne all the while denying the fact that he's had a positive TD-to-INT ratio the last 2 years...only his rookie season in which he had Hartline (4th round pick) and 4 undrafted free agent WRs did he throw 12 TD to 13 INTs. Kids been on a climb since day 1...some just expect QBs to be superstars as rookies and if they're not then they suck.

I just wish Jim Nantz would drop Phil Simms as his color analyst....to me he is by far the worst color analyst in the NFL. I have to put the game on mute when Simms runs his mouth. I would even listen to Joe Theismann or Randy Cross, before Nance.

Nantz, Simms are Bommer Esiason are all intolerable, haughty **** heads... Just my humble opinion.

Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker was CBS' best team and they were always relegated to crap games. (Mostly ours lol)

CBS screwed that up royally.

Not even close, his haters will be very disappointed from this point forward!

Nah, if he excels this year, they will say that it's just a product of the revamped offense and the receivers made him look good.

Nantz isn't bad, Simms has always been very pro-Dolphin or completely unbiased.

He has a very strong personality though and is a tough guy.

Any Dolphan who would prefer Cross to Sims surprises me.

Cross is a LONG TIME Dolphins hater as is Boomer.

Boomer is an idi0t too, he's almost as lefty as Chris Collinsworth.

Simms calls them like he sees them. I have only heard him say positive things or make valid points about the Dolphins.

"hello friends"

I thought that was that shrew Nancy Grace.

Phil is okay IMO.

Best play by play... Al Michaels. Best Color Commentary Troy Aikman.

All things being equal a compliment from that a$$clown Nantz is worse than the SI curse.
