Schwartz' name keeps getting thrown around as someone who could come in as a DC. Currently, he has a job with the league. So I'm wondering why some of you think Schwartz would leave a job with a steady paycheck and decent job security to become the DC under a first-time head coach on this team that lacks talent at linebacker and the secondary? The odds are really stacked against any kind of success and this is probably little more a 3 month gig followed by unemployment?

money, the chance to make a case for this or another job in the offseason. money. did I mention that Ross would pay him a mountain of money?

Perhaps, but if he can do a good job with the defense, he can get a leg up on being the next head coach.

That scenario would require not only the defense to perform well but also the offense to flop under Campbell's leadership. If both do well, Campbell would have the leg up, no?

A football coach wants to coach.. if he has truly had enough of that life and what it entails he may stay with the league.. but he is a fine defensive mind (no HC material as we know from Detroit) and he was let go by Ryan at the Bills last year.. I think Schwartz would seize the opportunity if he can.. we just need Ross to allow it to happen and according to Dan Campbell he (Ross) has said what ever he needs he gets..so if Dan sees it.. then I think he will see the wisdom in it.

I asked the same question in another thread, dont see it happening but we could always be wrong who knows.

Bingo! Not saying Jim is the guy but this is the reason guys leave a paper pushing job

I said the same thing on another thread. Hard to believe anyone would want to come here as DC not knowing who the HC will be in 2016. This is not madden. This is the real thing. If coyle get fire they will have to replace him with someone already on the staff

FH believes all sorts of stupid ****, it is after all the home of the "mock offseason". this isn't fantasy football, its the NFL

I love the mindset that: this exists and we need it, so it shall be ours. Players and coaches are actual human beings, not drag and drop

If Campbell were being hired with the typical 3-5 year window a new head coach gets to prove himself, I could agree with you, but Campbell only has 12 games to prove himself and that leaves him in a very tenuous position. Schwartz could very likely wind up being a guy who was fired from two DC positions in two years.

I could be wrong, but I can't see why Schwartz would sign onto this crap fest of ours. If Coyle goes, I think we're much more likely to promote from within and then seek to replace the position coaching position from the outside.

What would you do? If your life plan was to be a coach and a great opportunity emerged to pursue your dream, would you stay in some dead end job behind a desk or chase your dreams? Lots of people, probably most, would take the safe route, the "steady paycheck" and drive the desk, but people who have dreams would never choose that path. In fact, I don't know anyone in coaching at any level who would choose a desk job over pursuing their passion, even if the money were better.
