He needs to be gone ASAP. Line has mostly sucked under his direction. Now it is in chaos for other reasons as well, that he obviously hasn't been able to manage. Philbin needs to fire him yesterday.

Yeah there's more to this story yet. We still need to wait and see if and when Martin ever did go to Philbin or Turner about Incognito?

How bad is Martin's mental illness? Did the organization try and brush it under the rug? How much did they know about it?

All those facts could really blow this situation up.

Turner is the coach that works with these guys the most almost everyday. This **** show happened under his watch, and his unit has underperformed. The blame starts with him IMO.

Problem is that Jim Turner is a long-time nobody and this is his first crack at an NFL job. He'd been toiling in the college ranks since the mid-90s.

Incognito and Pouncey are the only two serviceable linemen he has and the ticket to him keeping his job.

That's the problem when you hire nobodies looking to finally crack it in the NFL, they self serve to their personal career interests. Turner knows if he blows this, he won't get a second chance.

Well he blew it and rightfully so, he doesn't belong in the NFL.

Exactly. I didn't see this addressed on the forum, and that's why I made a thread about it. Everyone is talking about the players, Philbin, Ireland, and not mentioning much the coach most responsible. I don't care which player is to blame for this bull****. I care about the coaches that let it get to this point and they need to go. Philbin needs to be a general and take charge, Turner should be gone. Now. If Philbin does nothing he should be next.

It all makes sense why this line has played poorly. Just think of it as a regular work atmosphere. Imagine if this is true and you had Incognito and Martin side by side for 6-7 games? The question now is they can rid themselves of a cancer, if the play can be better

Cog has been servicable as a run blocker this year but very bad in pass protection giving up 5 sacks. Im still trying to figure who voted him to probowl last year

There needs to be accountability for this with the coaching staff and it starts right with the position coach that let this happen.

Joe is the HC and has the most responsibility...not a position coach.

He wasn't voted in he was a replacement. This is often overlooked by some and further denegrates the status of being a pro bowler.

I've been saying this for years! The only reason this guy is considered good is because of his "bad reputation." That's all. He is as bad as the rest of the line. I don't even consider his run blocking to be anything special.

You haven't been looking hard enough.. this is what I last posted on 11./02 in post # 211 of this thread ..after the 10/28 merged threads independently started by Namor and me: "Zac Taylor: The Blind Leading The Blind" first bringing up the disturbing and surprising to some reality that he's Sherman's son in law

Why aren't more fingers being pointed in accusation at Turner?????

Following up on my earlier post in this emotional thread that is at risk of spiralling out of control, regardless of whether you believe a)it's a far cry from bullying or is the epitome of it, b)if Martin is not sufficiently strong or macho, he's inviting the abuse or under no circumstances should he put with this, and/or he's got personal issues maybe even sexual that in a football context shouldn't be rationalized or excused considering the game he's getting a lot to play or since we don't know the extenuating circumstances there's an inappropriate rush to judgment of him as a quitter.. (did I get them all?)

in any of those cases, IMO it's undeniable that this unwanted attention and potentially large distractor is detrimental to the team. If you agree with this supposition, no matter what side you come out on, fingers have to be pointed at Jim Turner, the OL coach who presumably spends long days with this guy. Either through his drill sergeant macho persona, he's either intentionally encouraged the toughening up of Martin or enabled it. Ain't no way he was oblivous to the problems. So I hold him responsible for any resulting issues. Couple that accountability with that although seemingly accomplished as an OL coach at several NCAA programs, this is his first NFL gig brought along by Sherman, just like he did his worthless son in law to coach Tannehill. It's true that while collegiatte experience can portend professional experience, it's not necessarily a corollary (no matter what BS standard deviation error you choose to slap on it!). Sooooooo...

..being either overtly or covertly responsible for simmering what now is a mess on his "micro" watch, may have created an exclusionary tough guy climate, and can likely turn into much worse, coupled with the fact that no matter how entertaining his hard-nosed act was on HK, he has not produced, so IMO he seems pretty worthless and has got to go sooner than later!

Zac Taylor: Garbabe In/Garbage Out?
Zac Taylor - Garbage In/Garbage Out?

Looking over this kid's resume, it seems that although fairly successful over a year or two playing the position at Nebraska, he's never coached an NFL-level QB. This is his first gig. Makes one wonder when looking at Tannehill's lack of development, if from a coaching standpoint it's "garbage in/garbage out." What's worse is that he's Mike Sherman's son in law, so there's nepotism at play here.. and it's just as likely that Ryan would be benched before Taylor is gone so long as daddy in law dearest is our OC.

Tannehill is raw still and in his formative years of development where coaching, good or bad has a long lingering effect. He's too smart, athletic and talented to not be making strides unless he's being instructed by someone who's main claim to fame was being an assistant Aggie coach under his wife's father and going 9-3 one year for Nebraska.

I don't know if anyone's made this observation previously, but IMO putting Taylor in his first big time QB coaching job with a Brees or Manning might work, but what credentials does he really possess to train an inexperienced QB, no matter how promising, from the ground up??

While he may not be the root of all problems, for starters IMO he needs to go and be replaced either by someone who has successfully developed pro QBs from scratch or at least played the game at the pro level, cerebrally, like a Pennington.

Well whether he deserves it or not, he'll likely be the fall guy in the issue. Philbin and the players have protection from various sources. The "middle manager" (Turner) will be shown the door, and the perception will be (rightfully or not) "problem solved."

How could he not deserve it? If the allegations have enough merit that Incognito has been suspended without pay then Turner needs to be unemployed by noon. If Sherman and Philbin were made aware previously and did nothing they should be right behind him.

This is no longer a boo hoo case about bullying. If what Martin is saying is true and their are threats along with racially charged statements, this becomes a hate crime.

He could not deserve it if he had his finger squarely on the pulse of the problem and was trying to address it with the players involved while keeping his boss abreast of the issue in the manner instructed.

Remember, the **** rolls downhill in organizations, and although the players are at the bottom of the hill, they have a union. Turner has nothing. He's for all intents and purposes at the "bottom" here.
