Jimmy Johnson as GM

Rob Konrad, John Avery, JJ Johnson, Dorion Brew, Yatil Green.....yeah JJ was hitting home runs in Miami in early rounds.

Aside from JT and Surtain, Jimmy didn't do much drafting wise in Miami. Got lucky with Zach late in the draft, but you can't depend on that every year.

Oh dear God not another freakin Carl Peterson to Miami Link! Every friggin year, twice a year with this BS. I don't want that colossal failure anywhere near this team.

I swear if he comes here they'll find my naked body hanging in a closet in Bangkok, wrists and genetils bound with nylon rope, fishnet stockings dangling from one foot and a red clown wig delicately placed on my head...

Wait, whatya mean that's already been done?

The only reason Jimmy succeeded in Dallas is because the stupid Vikings gave them a million draft picks for Hershel Walker.

Takes more than that to succeed in this league... Just ask Mike Ditka.

OH i see....now its AFTER the last season. so basically when they were both DONE with the game and it didnt matter anymore. hmmmm. guess that doesnt have any impact on the fact marino asked jimmy to stay and coach another year does it??? which u ORIGINALLY tried to dispute

Dude, wtf? It was always after their last season!!!!!! My original post said, Me and Dan Marino hate JJ, and for some reason that offended you!! Do I need to let you know that I am typing in the present tense when I say that "I hate JJ?" Actually the dislike started during their season last season together, just so you don't get that twisted...sheesh.I don't know why you don't get that they don't like each other. But deeper still, who the hell cares? The bottom line is that I do not want JJ as a GM

jimmy johnson deserves a lot of credit for building a dallas team that was among the best ever talent-wise. I think the further he got away from the college game the less successful his drafts were, or maybe he just lost intereste. johnson built a nice defense in miami with sam madison, patrick surtain, jason taylor and zach thomas. But he missed two hall of famers when he passed up on rey lewis and traded down and essentially missed out on randy moss. Bottom line, i just don't think johnson would be the right choice now.

bingo!

Jimmy Johnson????.....Mr. Extenze? Hell no!!!!!

The franchise has already reduced that old saying "Fool me once shame on you, fool me TWICE, shame on me" down to Vince Young wonderlic levels having had JJ, then Benedict Saban and now Parcells all quit on us, each leaving behind their stench No more poseurs or quitters please.

please tell me you are joking. because u are out of your mind. yeah JIMMY JOHNSON doesnt know ANYTHING about drafting. yep he "got lucky" with thomas. u should be banned for posting garbage like this.

jimmy johnson SINGLE-HANDEDLY built a cowboy team that won 3 super bowls and probably would have won 5 if he had remained coach. a team that was SO TALENTED barry switzer was able to win a superbowl in dallas. THEN he came to miami and in 3 years he had drafted 2 guys that should be in the hall of fame. and 2 allpros in pat surtain and sam madison.

THAT ALONE is more talent than we have had IN FIFTEEN YEARS COMBINED SINCE HE LEFT. get ur head out of u know where. wake up dude

I don't care what JJ did in Dallas. He had NO salary cap and a million picks from the Walker trade. In Miami JJ had HORRIBLE, yes HORRIBLE drafts!

that fresh outta college thing worked really well for saban didnt it?? guess he was still fresh outta college when he drafted Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Sam Madison, and Pat Surtain huh? those guys must have taken 10 years to graduate - dummies.

and yes jimmy johnson decided to leave miami a year before he did. dan marino and wayne huizenga asked jimmy to meet them at which time dan asked jimmy to give it another year before he stepped away. get it right dude

Was this meeting before or after the Jacksonville game?
I still can't wash off the stench of that game

Who drafted better than Jimmy over that span? Why don't you go add up the pro bowl appearances and games started by players picked during that time and compare it to the rest of the league.

His failures don't matter??? LMAO

well that was intelligent. there is a reason WHY a period comes AFTER a sentence is COMPLETE obviously the initial part of the sentence has NO RELEVANCE without the remaining sentence. the statement was

"his failures dont matter because his successes were so tremendous" slightly different there slick. two completely different statements.

well get it right, if you are going to write it. Johnson past on Ray Lewis to draft Daryl Gardener - who was a phenomenal player, with probowl talent and always played wll under johnson. he was a cornerstone of that defense. in that SAME draft johnson drafted Zach Thomas, who himself is a hall of fame mlb (in talent, performace, and numbers), that was every bit as good as ray lewis in his prime. since miami ran a 4-3 and both were MLB. only one guy can play the position at a time.

so let me get this staight. miami past on an allpro MLB, in favor of a probowl caliber DT, and STILL drafted an allpro MLB????? and somehow in your bizarro world thats a BAD thing??? wow dude. get a clue.

and jimmy johnson didnt pass on randy moss. he traded down in the draft BEFORE the draft began. nobody expected randy moss to fall as far as he did. but jimmy johnson NEVER past on randy moss its pretty clear vonnie holiday or randy moss would have been the choice had he remained in that spot.

love the revisionist history

then you have absolutely no perspective on what constitutes the difference between horrible and successful. do u understand the difference between left and right???

You can't defend John Avery, Rob Konrad, JJ Johnson, Dorion Brew, Yatil Green....etc. You can't defend those early round FLOPS in Miami. HUGE misses in the draft. Guys who weren't even average players, they were downright bad players! You can't have bad those early round picks on your resume. He wasn't good in Miami. He made bad draft picks in Miami. Hit on 2 or 3 guys in like 4 years, that's not good!

Lots of teams made better draft picks in the late 90's during JJ's era. My god. Houston/Tenn with Eddie George, Rolle, Derrick Mason, Kearse, and John Runyan. Baltimore had Ogden, Saturday, McAlister and Boulware. Indy with Harrison, Peyton, Edge. and Glenn. Tampa with Dunn, Alstott, Harris.

We could go on all day here. JJ had some miserable drafts in Miami. Downright miserable. He wasn't good!

Jeff Ireland:Jake Long, Vontae Davis, Mike Pouncey(questionable), Cam Wake(found him in the CFL).

See, two can play that game and some talented players doesn't mistake the flaws Ireland has as a General Manager.

Lets just leave JJ to what he does best, Extenze commercials.

Aren't the Jets really "Beast"ing it this year?
