Jimmy Johnsons 1999 draft

was checking out all the talent comming out of the 99 draft and i noticed that Miami had 8 picks but i also noticed that every player that was drafted by Jimmy that year no longer plays in the NFL:eek:

what a waste especially with a loaded draft like that one....

it wasnt a complete waste we did get a few good years out of konrad

and your rite that was a good year, especially for us. rite now we have seven player on the roster drafted in 1999, and for of them are first rounders

6 - Boston's not on our roster right now.

WTF??? - I just responded to this thread and no i'm the first post? how does that happen?
somthin is screwy:lol:

btw Boston wasnt drafted by Mia

Why did we draft 2 RB? Cecil obviously went to jail, but we did not know that it was going to happen. Why was he considered such a great RB I remember people saying that he had such promis as a RB, when we drafted James Johnson in the 2nd round who is also listed at RB.

This does not make sense to me, I was only 12 at the time and really don't remember much about the draft. I remember the games, but the draft was a little bit past me at that time.

 ahh 3

I was talking about just RB, not FB. I can see what you mean, but I still don't understand why I have never heard of James Johnson, and then heard how Cecil Collins "Screwed us" or "would have been great"

I just dont really understand.

Jimmy Johnson may have had a bad draft that year but, he still got Konrad, and I think he made enough hits the 3 years before that. He is responsible for drafting Zach Thomas in the 5rd round in 96' and also, Jay Taylor, Madison and Surtain the next 2 years. Not to mention, Gardner, Pritchett, and Derrek Rodgers.... Not too shabby IMO.

spector, cecil played for a larger school, LSU I belive, he then got in some sort of trouble cant recal exactly and transfered to a small school. there was a period at LSU? where he had something rediculous like over 600 yards in like three games and he was absoloutly destroying defenses when he played well. The problem was he couldnt stay out of trouble long enough at any level to live up to his potential

Interesting to see that you only mentioned one offensive player in the list. One of the many failures of the Johnson regime.

And James Johnson was just a reach that didnt pan out. Like john Avery, lawrence Philips and Karim Abdul Jabar aka Sharmin Shaw. Jimmy insisted we were going to run the ball wether we had a solid running back or not. Which we never really did the whole time he was coach.

So what?? He drafted 4 perrenial pro bowlers in 3 years, and, ATLEAST one of them will be in the hall of fame.... you want your cake and you want to eat it too... i guess you wouldnt be happy unless he drafted 2 or 3 perennial pro bowlers on offense as well huh?
