Yea Jimmy, maybe he should be "great" like you...taking over a playoff team and going 8-8 in its first year, squandering the final years of the NFL's greatest QB, and continually getting your *ss handed to you in the first round of the playoffs

Johnson, who had a 36-28 regular-season record in four seasons with Miami, is apparently not overly impressed by the job Saban has done in his first year with the Dolphins.

''I like Saban. I think he's doing a good job,'' Johnson said. I was going to say great job, but I can't say great job. I think this year has just been middle of the road. It hasn't been a great year.''

Here's the whole story ---> JJ Criticizes Saban

I don't see any thing wrong with what he said. Greatness comes with results...and time.

A playoff team in his first year? Are you kidding? That team was almost as bad as this one. If anything, that team was overachieving.

There isnt really anything wrong with what he said. We only won 4 games so far. There is nothing great about that no matter who you are.

I don't see it as unfair criticism. He said Saban has done a good job. He's probably being more generous than alot of analysts. As a Dolphin fan and perpetual optimist, I'm withholding judgement for now. However I do believe that Saban first opened himself up to alot of criticism with the QB position. If you bring in a veteran QB who "knows the system" and give the guy a full training camp to get used to team mates, etc, it's fair to expect improved play at that postion. But we haven't seen that on a consistent basis. Throw rocks at me if you want, but if Feidler were still here we wouldn't be any worse off than we are. And it's not as if Gus is the future, either.

I dont see it as unfair criticism, but the irony of Jimmy Johnson coming in and critisizing basically any other Dolphins coach besides George Wislon is too much to bear.

JJ ****ing sucked here. He was a GM, not a coach, and an embarassment.

So true! That debacle of a playoff loss in Jacksonville was squarely on his shoulders (not to mention the overall lack of progress during his tenure) JJ's downfall IMO was that he got too full of himself in believing everything that was being written about him at the time.

Why do you say that?

He turned a team full of ragamuffins into an 8-8 team, then went 9-7, 10-6, and 9-7.

He built the foundation of this team that has won us a lot of games for 7-8 seasons.

The only beef I have with Jimmy is that he left Wanny in charge. But then again, Wayne should have stepped in there.

So that one game defines Jimmy's entire time here?

Jacksonville was a damn good team that year. People act like we lost to the Cardinals or something.

I loved JJ, he inherited the same situation that Saban finds himself in now, the only thing was we were in worst cap shape at that time. The only thing I have against JJ was he left befor the job was completed.

Well what did u expect? We've already matched last year's win total, so we're doing a better job then 2004. He has done a good job, there's nothing great about being 4-7.

But then again, this is 1 man's opinion. JJ's that is. To each his own. He gets paid to talk, therefore he runs his mouth. Oh well

Ok.

Saban clearly doesn't think highly of wanny and the mess he left. Wanny is a reflection of jj. So.... Am I the only one who sees this?
