A few hours ago I was watching NFL Network and they were doing the 2004 Cardinals Greatest Moments. First off, let me say that I was at the Dolphins/Cardinals game and that was quite possibly the worst officiating I have seen all year, with Sammys interception being negated due to holding that never happend and Larry Fitzgeralds pushoff to seal the game. Everything happens for a reason I guess and if we won that game we probably would not have Ronnie Brown so I am not too upset over it. Anyway, they showed a clip of Anquan Bolding talking to a coach, telling him to just send them on deep routs because our secondary cannot defend the deep ball. I thought about this for a while and I realize its true. The bump and run coverage was ideal for shutting down short and medium routs but we were always getting beat deep. It may not be news to most of you but it was a startling realization to me. I guess the only reason I bring my nearsightedness to everybodys attention is just to express how thankfull I am that the Nick Saban defense is finally putting an end to that. With the safteys deep as we have always had them and with the integrated zone coverage, I doubt we will be getting beat deep anymore.
