Was not very impressed with him when I saw him live this year. He tends to kind of sling the ball of his back foot, and gets happy feet when under pressure. I go to school at SIU and we dominated the Semi-final game against Delaware, the only reason they won was because we killed are self with turnovers and penalty's. We had like three or four trips inside the red zone and did not even score a point on them. Then on the big drive that Delaware scored on there was the fantam pass inf. as the Delaware WR slipped on his own. So for the game I saw Flacco play he was not very good. He does has some raw talent but needs a lot of work.
Huh!!!!! DOMINATE?!?!?!? What game were you watching. I am a Delaware resident and fan of the Blue Hens, I've seen every one of Flacco's games and I agree with you that the SIU game was not one of his best games, but there is a very good reason for that.
But first, I want to address that your team did nothing close to dominating the game; the first quarter....yes, but that's as far as it goes. SIU came out the gate fast, jumping out 10 - 0 in the first quarter but they got shut down the rest of game.
Delaware had 404 total yards to SIU's 297. Time of possesion was only 2 minutes difference in your favor (29 - 31). SIU had more yards rushing (hence they reason they won time of possesion) rushing yards: 119 - 191, but Delaware more then doubled (almost tripled) SIU in passing yards: 285 - 106, and Flacco did that after a very short practice week due to bad weather after their previous game...
When Joe Flacco got warmed up; he picked SIU's defense apart. He was 21-38 for 243 yards, 2 TDs and 0 ints. He did this after a very short practice week because they were stuck in N. Iowa for 2 days due to heavy snow and ice after beating the top-ranked team. Back at home; they practiced for only 2 days, then flew back out to the midwest to beat you guys on your turf. I wasn't surprised they look lethargic in the first quarter, but they DOMINATED SIU the rest of the game. The only score SIU had after the first quarter was a special teams TD in the last quarter.
I know this loss was sour grapes for you, but give credit when due. SIU was beaten soundly by Delaware and considering what was at stake and the short preparation Flacco was faced with during that week , I would grade it as a solid performance, but definitely not one of his best.
If you want to see his best game, watch their victory vs. Division 1 Navy. Flacco was unbelievable in that game and that was against a higher level team than what Delaware usually face.
I'm not saying Flacco is the next coming of Brady, and I agree his mechanics need work, but he does have good measurables and attributes. He does have to work on his timing when leading receivers going across the field, but his strength is over the top (deep ball), he will hit a WR with great touch in stride going deep. Plus he has a cannon of an arm, one of the best in college. If he is available in the 4th, he should merit consideration for us to draft, but I'm sure he will be gone by the mid 3rd round.
