I think if we can contain this duo, we can win this game.
In the first matchup, we were overmatched bc we did not have a true Nose Tackle all game. And many of us know, without a Nose Tackle, the 3-4 defense will never work. Now with Jason Ferguson healthy and Paul Soliai ready to go, I truly see us stuffing their smash mouth style football. I feel the Fins have a harder time stopping the "finesse style" runners, bc guys like Crowder try and overpursue too much but luckily Mcgahee is not the same back he once was and MClain is more of bruising Full Back than a true Running Back.
-However, this game will rest on how we affect the play of rookie QB Joe Flacco and his favorite target Derrick Mason. Keep Will Allen on Mason all game with a safety over the top and a LB ready to cut off an in-route and truthfully, their offense can be contained. The Ravens offense is not the same when Mason is covered well.
-We need to apply pressure. When Cameron tries to spread us out, we need to nickel blitz with Nate Jones.
-I think this is the game Joey Porter finally wakes up. He had two sacks on Flacco last time these teams met. In all fairness to Porter, in the last two weeks, he played on an icy field with no traction in KC and last week played against one of the best pass-blocking LTs in the game, D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Luckily for us, Porter dominated the Ravens LT, Jared Gaither and they may need to have Todd Heap stay in to help contain Porter.
-I trust Chad Pennington in this game, almost moreso than any game we have played this year. Ironic, I know. I only say that because I see Pennington as a fierce competitor and a student of the game. His worst game as a Fin came against the Ravens, and I see him making sure his next Ravens game is closer to his best.
In Week 7, imagine Ferguson isn't hurt and Soliai is not suspended. With those two guys, we contain their run game, and add some pass rushing as well. Take away the ONE mistake Pennington has made ALL YEAR and I truly think the game comes down to the wire.
THIS GAME WILL BE DIFFERENT! FINS REVENGE PART II
