It really pisses me of this guy is on the HOF and he is the the jets fans one claim to fame look at his career numbers they are a joke.
TD-INT 173-220Yards 27,663QB Rating 65.5

his mubers compare with players like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson

I couhld care less about the team shtrug-ugg-uling!

But those guys also won championships so they're supposed to be considered great. Unlike Dan Marino or Dan Fouts. :D

Not only is Namath the most overrated player, but Super Bowl III is probably the most overrated game in NFL history.

I ALWAYS thought that about him. In his entire career, he only had 2 seasons whith more td's than interceptions! That's pathetic!

I think most Jet fans are probably glad that it pisses you off lol.

I'd like to take this moment to thank Joe Namath and the Jets for winning Super Bowl III. Had they lost, Don Shula would have probably stayed as the Colts' head coach instead of coming to Miami and guiding the Dolphins to the only undefeated season in NFL history and back to back championships. Thank you, Jets. :)

I'd also like to thank the Jets in advance for letting the Dolphins have the quarterback that will lead them to their next Super Bowl victory. :D

One behalf of the Jets. Your welcome. Namath....Namath.....Namath.

So Chad's leading you guys to the SB now. Good luck.

I don't know if Namath is the most overrated player in the game, but he should not be in the Hall of Fame. Had he played in Denver or Seattle he would not be a Hall of Famer, but that is what happens when you play in NYC.

I don't know whether he's overrated or not.

Stats don't tell everything (although they're indicative of certain aspects of play) and I think I would need to have been following football during Namath's career to know, for sure, how good, bad or indifferent he was. Either that or watch footage of the majority of the games he played in and compare them with footage of the majority of the other games around that time, to get an idea how the general level of play then was. I don't have the time to do the latter and I'm too young to have been able to do the former.

Would jets fans agree that he is overrated though?

Probably not. Namath is a tricky case. His SB III upset of the Colts was very important as it was the first SB win for the AFL. AFL teams were regarded as less talented and simply not as good as the NFL teams. The Jets were heavy underdogs and Namath guaranteed victory and came through on it. IDK its hard for me to judge him from an in game stand point. He was before my time.

Namath sucked. Whenever I'm debating another about whether or not a player is great, they seem to always say "Well, they will be in the HOF". I reply back, "So what, Namath is in the HOF too." Namath being in the Hall diminishes some of the true greats that deserve to be there.
