Philbin is wrong there. Granted the Packers don't dive into free agency much but maybe he was just referring to the offense.

On April 26, 2006, Charles Woodson and the Green Bay Packers reached a 7-year contract agreement that could be worth as much as $52.7 million with bonuses and incentives.

The quote was actually in reference to JUST the offensive side of the ball.

Here is the quote:

...remember you’re talking to a guy that I think in nine years offensively in Green Bay we never had one guy come in there as a free agent and really contribute.

I'm really excited about coach Philbin. He has that quiet yet confident demeanor like Dungy and Shula.

Must stay patient because he will need time to build the team he wants. I have a good feeling he will be successful.
Mike Sherman will play a huge role for him because he's been a head coach. Philbin can lean on him when necessary until he gets a full grasp of the job.

So far, I'm very impressed with our new coach, Joe Philbin!


Here is what I got out of his interview and possible areas he wants addressed via the draft.

In no particular order...

1. Defensive End (Odrick MUST step it up this year!)

2. Wide Receivers (Look for him to draft players to compete in the WCO)

3. Offensive Line (Look for changes!)

4. Linebacker (Drafting someone to replace Misi would NOT surprise me!)

5. Quarterback (Moore is pretty good, but look for someone drafted to push him.)

6. Defensive Backs (Though not critical, we need depth and youth.)

Well not that he was all that but he might have hurt Donal lee's feelings since i would say he contributed fairly decent on offense much like Fasano here.
They did do a great job of drafting on offense too bad we dont have the guy that made those picks over the years on this staff. I hope Philben had alot of impact on that but i think he was more able to develop them than choose them.

I also can see Hartline's play improving in this offense. im not worried about the rec tds. Marshall couldn't even come up with many of them. Not saying i see Jordy Nelson production, but they both had similar stats in their first three seasons with Nelson breaking out last season.

The 2 primary things you got out of that interview is Philbin asking himself,

1) What the hell did I get myself into?

2) how the hell am I supposed to win with this crew?
