Two weeks ago, coach Joe Philbin sounded fairly confident wide receiver DeVante Parker would be ready to play in the regular-season opener, saying he just didn't know if the rookie would be available for 30 snaps or maybe 60 snaps. And while there is nothing to suggest Parker will not be ready by then, the timetable now suggests if he is ready, it might not be for a full load of work against the Washington Redskins.

Consider that Philbin was not nearly so convincing on Parker today:
"We're not sure exactly when he's going to get back," the coach said. "I don't know if he's going to practice, how much he's going to practice, if he's going to play in the preseason."

Bill Belichick school of answers. I like that....concerned, but like it

more good news

Breathe in through your nose for 3 seconds, and breathe out your mouth for 3 more. Repeat as necessary.

This doesn't change a damn thing. Philbin answered a Parker question with different rhetoric.

I don't know what's worse: the media whoring themselves out for clicks by creating a whole new headline from a one-sentence answer, or the way some of you overreact (which provides great entertainment, by the way) to every little word they post or tweet.

Just don't rush him back. He will be back near the beginning of the season, so if he doesn't play much in the first game won't upset me.

Yup, plus we have the personnel to go without him for a game or two if need be. Matthews playing well in camp certainly helps.

This is playing out SO PREDICTABLY!

A ton of CYA going on -- starting with drafting an unsound player with a screw loose way high in R1.

Honestly, the double talk and nonsensical say a lot and tell nothing crap these coaches etc. get away with is nauseating.

Like football is akin to top secret military crap.

If a coach is upfront, honest and friends with the media, that's when you know you have real problems. The NFL is not a soap opera regardless of how hard networks like BSPN and NFLN try; "fans" be damned.

Should have drafted Mel Gordon…(Hayden ducks).

I don't understand the panic that Parker might not be 100% for week 1. If we can't beat the Redskins without a rookie WR then we deserve to lose.
