Joe Philbin press conference

If that's the case then Joe Philbin needs to be fired. Plain and simple. I like Joe but if he's too stubborn to make that move then he should go down with the ship.

He should be able to keep who he wants as coach.....but he will be held accountable for it.....if he brings them back and we have a repeat of this yr then they all get fired....don't tie his hands behind his back and make decisions for him then hold him accountable for your decision making, not fair.....

He called the season average. 8-8 may be average, but the total collapse at the end is not average.

I agree, I felt this team was a 10-6 team with a possible shot at the playoffs when the season started....8-8 is a failure when you start 3-0 and have a chance with two wins at the end of season to get in the playoffs and you get shut out in one and score 7 points in another....

Him sugar coating the season is depressing, I would have more confidence in him if he let us know what the problems are then at least he would know what to fix.....

I have to agree with that statement. I am firmly in Joe's corner, but if he's too stubborn to make a change or hold his staff accountable, then we need to move on.

I respected him more last week when he came out and said we played bad and I have no answers!

Average? Yes Phailbin, that's the freaking problem.

I don't want to defend Philbin because I think we could improve the coaching of this team and SHOULD improve the coaching of this team, but before he got here this team was below average.

You could make the case that the team is improving under Joe.

Personally, I have too many specific criticisms of things I have seen of the staff to buy that argument, but I can see the reasoning.

Well then Joe has to go. I'm not taking another season of Sherman at OC. In a league where scoring is made easy, the league is setting records almost every weekend for TDs scored and we break 30 only twice in two years with Sherman at the helm...not gonna do it. There are way too many things we can do to make it easier for Tannehill and get the ball in the hands of our fastest receiver without having to throw deep and we don't do it. We don't run screens, we don't have Wallace in motion, we don't put Hartline in motion, we don't have them run shallow crossing routes, we run out of the shotgun far too often, the blocking scheme sucks (take a look at how many times Cutler was sacked last year and how many sacks Chicago gave up this year....yeah the blocking scheme is on the OC...ask Mike Martz). It was too much of the same stuff every week with Sherman...WCO is supposed to be a number of different route combinations from the same formation...we ran the same route combinations from different formations...backwards. Sherman's got to go and if Philbin won't do it then Philbin has to go.

Not saying I want Philbin back, but I have no problem with Philbin not throwing Sherman or anybody under the bus in his press conference. It's in his and our best interest for him to take the high road here especially when we are looking for possible coaching replacements. Who would want to come work for him if when things go bad he starts blaming everybody. Best to keep those conversations in house.

Yeah, but he could have said he would not talk about that and stick with it, not say that Sherman was an excellent coach.

I think this team regressed despite winning 1 more game. I absolutely believe this team's coaching regressed. I absolutely believe this team's talent regressed. I just don't see anything but a perpetually average squad, coaching staff and front office.

Not acceptable to me. I don't buy into the NFL's new standard of parity. I believe in excellence.

Is there anything other than Philbin throwing his long time friend and associate under the bus in a press conference that would satisfy you? Because at this point, it seems like everyone is acting like a bunch of simple-minded emotional basket cases demanding a public execution just to satisfy their lust for blood-vengeance.

Just because Philbin tells the media he supports Sherman, doesn't mean Sherman will still be with Miami next year. Remember when VW's lifelong hero and man-crush, Nick Saban, told the media he was not going to Alabama...? How did that pan out? I would relax, the offseason JUST started.

I agree with some of this (particularly putting Wallace in motion and more crossing routes) but can you seriously tell me that we don't run screens? We try bubble screens to Wallace basically every single game and they usually lose yardage. Didn't we lose yardage TWICE on them against the Jets yesterday?
